Top 8 Scenic Walking Areas in New Mexico, United States

May 15, 2022 Claudia Navarrete

With its rich cultural heritage from Native American and Spanish settlers, New Mexico has been both a Spanish colony and a Mexican colony, and still retains a strong individual identity within the United States. The landscape is breathtaking, the food incredible, and there is a thriving cultural scene, all of which makes New Mexico, and Santa Fe in particular, a great place all year long.

Keshi

Dear Keshi Friends and Family, Out of an abundance of caution, we at Keshi have made the difficult decision to temporarily halt walk in store service until further notice due to the Covid-19 Health Emergency. Our website will continue operations as usual. The gallery also open for email or telephone orders as well as private Zoom shopping appointments. Established in 1981 as a co-op for Zuni arts and crafts, Keshi has always maintained personal relationships with individual carvers, jewelers, and potters. We continue to buy directly from the Zuni people. Our reasonable prices and complete authenticity reflect this. We host one of the largest selections of Zuni fetishes in the world and we feel honored to be involved with these kind and generous people. We welcome you to call or visit Keshi and experience a Zuni connection for yourself. Elahkwa (thank you in Zuni)

The quality of the native art is excellent. Many of the pieces are actually museum quality as examples of navajo, hopi, and zuni items, especially the pottery and fetishes.

Interdune Boardwalk

Reviewed By Toyota1994 - Chicago, United States

Interdune Boardwalk is a very easy family-friendly elevated above the sand boardwalk in White Sands National Monument; it is less than half mile long. There is no access from the boardwalk to get on the sand, since the trail is built to be wheel-chair friendly. There are markers quite frequently along the boardwalk which are very informative about the geology, vegetation, and animals of the white sand dunes. The lookout at the end of the boardwalk opens up to beautiful view of the expansive white sand dunes. At about the middle of the boardwalk is a covered shelter which is used for education purposes and has quite elaborate displays. Interdune Boardwalk would be a very good introduction to the white sand dunes.

We enjoyed an easy hike up to some amazing views! We took some really great photos and even found some interesting rocks. We could have spent more time here if we had planned for it but we’d up here on a whim while driving back from Santa Fe.

Really enjoy the landowners and exploring the history which is still very present to view. The grass is yet to turn green but the sights are plentiful.

Nice camping spots with fishing lake and playground. Park is well kept and fun spot for our area. The lake is stocked so keep an eye on state stocking times. Great place to take kids to fish. We go camping sometimes and only live 10 Miles away. Good place to hear coyotes howling at night.
