The food was very nice and there was an option to make dishes vegetarian which I really enjoyed. The food itself was very nice and the portions were good. It was expensive but not as expensive as other restaurants in the country/town. The service was very slow even though at least 2 waitresses were working and only 3 or 4 tables were full. We had to walk back to the reception and ring the bell to get their attention. If they improve this, the restaurant is very good.

Good burger and good service. Took some time before the food came.. Not a quite place when people are done at school or at work but its ok. Last time me and my boyfriend was here, the chefs and waiters was only sitting in the resturant. Theres always something to do. Like cleaning wich is the half of the job to the chef. But still, good service and good food. Coming back as always!

Restaurant Alta is the restaurant of Rica Hotel Alta. It has a la carte meny with arctic and local food on the meny. It is open every day.
The buffet has a selection of typical arctic and local food. The food was fresh, good quality and served by friendly and efficient staff. The salad bar was well stocked with fresh vegetables. Fresh watermelons, cantaloupes, cloud berries, strawberries, apples, grapefruit and oranges were available. There was a wide variety of desserts - chocolate brownies and macaroons were superb rounded off by English tea, fruit teas and coffee. Expensive like all restaurants in Norway but commendable quality.

We visited the restaurant in the summer. We had smoked whale meat as starters and then local fish dishes for the main course. All dishes were nice and tasty and the fish was cooked well. Staff was nice. All in all a good experience.

Johnny Trine was voted the top chef in Norway in 2009. There is a reason why. The food at his restaurant is spectacular. We stayed at the lodge for three nights. All three nights included meals at his restaurant. Each night was a culinary adventure of Nordic food. My wife and I ate bear, deer, elk, king crab, cod, arctic char and a number of other succulent meals. Each meal was delicately prepared, consisting of amazing flavors. Best of all, Johnny and his staff make you feel like family. The restaurant is cozy, seating about thirty people, so make sure to make reservations.
