Kretinga ( pronunciation (help·info)) is a city in Klaipėda County, Lithuania. It is the capital of the Kretinga district municipality. It is located 12 km (7.5 mi) east of the popular Baltic Sea resort town of Palanga, and about 25 km (16 mi) north of Lithuania's 3rd largest city and principal seaport, Klaipėda.

The stream itself has been famous for many years for its healing properties, and the residents of the surrounding villages traditionally came to wash their faces and eyes in the stream. The residents say that, when the chapel was abandoned in Soviet times, and gatherings were forbidden there, the water in the stream dried out and it only returned when the chapel began to be taken care of again.
The Lourdes Grotto replica in Kretinga is one of the most important symbols of the town’s history, religious culture and architectural heritage. A great variety of celebrations take place here, ranging from the town’s school festivals to the religious parish festivals. The Lourdes Grotto dedicated to the Virgin Mary was opened on the 2nd of August 1933.
The Chapel is comprised of two parts: the over-ground chapel, where funeral services take place to this day; and the mausoleum where members of the Tyszkiewicz family are buried. The chapel, of a neo-Gothic style, was built in 1893. The interior of the chapel was decorated with wall paintings, its altar was brought here from Warsaw, and a bas relief of the Corpus was obtained from Germany.
In the old graveyard of Kretinga, a Franciscan monk, preacher, botanist and doctor is buried – Jurgis Pabreza. This man, who resided in Kretinga in 1771 to 1849, was well known amongst the residents of the surrounding area. That is why the guardian of the monastery, Augustinas Dirvele, decided to build a small 15 square metre neo-Gothic style masonry chapel above his grave in 1933.
