The Atrium is an attractive hotel with, as the name implies, a skylit central court. Staff are smart and efficient. But sadly the menu is rather uninspiring. My starter of mushrooms on toast was bland, but my main course of chicken breast stuffed with camembert and sun dried tomatoes was nicely presented and quite enjoyable. The local Moravian Aurelius wine was surprisingly different with a crisp but distinctive flavour .And,despite its limitations, the meal was excellent value for money.

Vodňany is a small town, but well known for its ponds and fishing. Zlatý soudek is the only restaurant in Vodňany that serves original fish dishes by popular cook Miloš Štěpnička and that is completely non-smoking at the same time. Interior is cosy, with a big aquarium. Menu offers plenty of fish meals, serving traditional Bohemian food. Some dishes even got prices. Good beer and wine too. Nice staff. Located in the historical centre. You can sit outside if you wish. We try to visit this place every time we are in Vodňany.

One would think that with the time an money invested in making the place more attractive with a brand new and indeed very impressive new interior. That they would also consider changing the very dated menu. They haven't
So why the ambience is a huge improvement, they should seriously consider introducing a brand new menu. And, the English menu they do produce should be exactly the same as their Czech one. Currently they are both completely different.
Finally, this trendy new place also runs the risk of becoming a kindergarten, as it was full of very young teenagers the night we dined there. They will have to choose which clientèle they want dining there at the risk of loosing valuable income by entertaining teens.

Hledali jsme s rodinou neco k snedku a google vyplivl tuto restauraci.

As do most restaurants in Czech Republic, Chalupa u Metske Brany offers a lunchtime "Menu". It changes each day and there is always a soup followed usually by a choice of 4 main courses. The price per person is typically 80 Kc, currently around £2. I have enjoyed many lunches here and have yet to be disappointed. The restaurant has several small rooms giving a comfortable atmosphere. Service is polite and efficient. Check it out.
