This restaurant was recommend to us as the perfect place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. The place is beautiful and the views over the bay are stunning. The staff certainly know how to look after you. We were made to feel very special at every point during the evening.
The food was exceptional in taste and presentation and the little tasters were a nice touch. The lobster carbonara was a spectacular entree followed by fresh pan fried scallops and then ending with a floating island dessert. Aaron our waiter was very friendly, professional and attentive making it a night to remember.

With the love of chocolate and a loan, we started The Chocolate Sparrow, a simple candy shop, in 1989 in North Eastham. Gradually we learned the art of making fine chocolate and the business of selling it. In 1991 we opened a summer shop in Wellfleet. Two years later in Orleans, we opened The Hot Chocolate Sparrow, a cafe complete with coffee from around the world, desserts of every indulgence, and our own hand-dipped chocolates. Here we could offer specialty coffee drinks in a sophisticated but welcoming atmosphere. We have grown into a local institution, open early morning to late night, every day of the year except Christmas. We created a place where people can connect. Our cafe is recognized Cape-wide, our chocolate is sent all over the country, and our coffee, desserts, and fudge have been voted #1 numerous times in various local surveys. No wonder we are recognized as "The Best on the Lower Cape."
Very popular place for locals and tourists alike. A nice array of premium pastries and beverages, all very good. A small amount of Indoor seating serves the off season crowd makes a nice place to hang out. The chocolates are high-priced and just average at best. Again, a nice variety and assortment, just lacking a rich, creamy chocolate taste. Try Munson's chocolate when you pass through Connecticut.
Located in the center of Orleans, with additional parking and bike trail access right across the street.

We visited here for dinner again in September and all was about the same as our last review. The pizza is still excellent and are unusual combinations. We tried another dish an evening special that was good. Still very busy for dinner and does not accept reservations. Service was a bit slow on our last visit.

When we asked the server for a favorite recommendation, she said "the corn beef hash walks out the door." LOL Definitely true! It was amazing. Another favorite on the menu is the Potato Pancakes. I had those and they were delicious, however be aware they are more like a fried potato cake and not like a pancake at all. But delicious!!!! They also have homemade donuts here, and delicious coffee. Definitely a great place for breakfast or lunch!

My wife and I are spending the weekend on Cape Cod with friends -- after an outstanding dinner last night in Dennis at Fin, today we had a delightful lunch at The Beacon Room in Orleans. Three of us ordered their cod special -- it was very satisfying; the fourth order their chicken curry sandwich -- she too was pleased. Prices were reasonable and the service was pleasant and attentive. Very much worth a visit!

Upscale dining in downtown Orleans. Historic building with a convivial, long bar, and a cozy dining room serving local seafood, prime beef, hearty salads, pasta and signature desserts.
The last three times I went to Mahoney's I've written negative responses; 1, very noisy in the dinning room
2. wrong pricing on a Manhattan (which has been corrected, thx)
3. last night please read on
Last night we took our neighbors out to dinner. The three others were satisfied with their dinners except me.
I ordered a Shrimp Francaise, I've had veal and chicken but not Shrimp, so I gave it a try. When it arrived it didn't look like I expected, the shrimp were burned around the edges including the breading. After the second bite I realized these were grilled shrimp also on the menu. I called our waitress over and pointed out that a Francaise dish is lightly battered with a nice light lemon sauce. She assured me it was what I ordered and that was how the Chef makes the Shrimp Francaise.

Surprisingly good food at a bowling alley - what a surprise. The owner is usually on the premises and is very active in the town. There is a limited menu but the chicken wings and barbecue are the best options.

The Yardarm Restaurant is a small place with a big imprint. In the last decades we've prided ourselves on being the go-to meeting spot for locals in Orleans. On any given day, you'll find townsfolk like fisherman, physicians and plumbers all sharing stories over drinks or watching the Patriots. The Yardarm is a place where friends meet and where new friends are made. A big reason for our popularity is our food. We have a variety of dishes in different styles, from steaks to Gumbos but there's no one else quite does fish like we do. In fact, the Yardarm is where the local fisherman go to eat. We even serve forgotten traditional favorites like Cod Cheeks. Then more come in for the friendly service. Everyone from the owners down to the wait staff has made it their utmost priority to serve you well, and you'll definitely notice the smiles on our faces and attention to detail as you slowly realize like you're dining at a friend's place. There's no where else quite like the Yardarm!
Nice meal, decent service, just a loud crowd. More bar than restaurant but I suspect that’s the appeal. No issues for me, but good to know ahead of time. :-)Thank you for your comments. We have a nice group of people that enjoy the conversation & laughter. You may want to request a table away from the pub next time.
