The Currach Irish Pub & Innkeeper's Lodge is set in a lovely garden setting, across the road from beautiful Pa Beach and Tryphena Harbour. The Currach is Great Barrier's iconic Irish Pub with beautiful authentic bric a brac. The pub offers a delicious menu with a fantastic range of dishes including its world famous Seafood Chowder and fantastic Chef Tasting Platters. We offer locally caught fish and use organic salads and herbs. We have a delicious range of bar snacks or stay for dinner. The Gallery Restaurant is the location for art Exhibitions of local artists. The Innkeeper's Lodge has 5 ensuites with balconies. We also have a small backpacker hostel. We look forward to welcoming you to the Currach.
Although we were part of s tour group booking here there was a good choice on the menu. Friendly welcoming staff added to a quite vibrant atmosphere. Some Irish music played in the background and it was obviously the place of choice for many locals to socialise too. The fish and chips were tasty and the sticky toffee pudding well worth having.

Waterfront location, friendly service, with tasty, wholesome food. Our licensed Restaurant Al Carte menu, or alfresco dinning, plus bistro Bar. All with relaxing sea views out to the gulf. Hospitality is our business. Original famous seafood chowder is a must. Seafood is our specialty plus aged scotch fillet, plus many other meat, fish and chicken dishes. fish and chips, mussel fritters.
Bob and Tipi's is our local, the place we go for celebratory dinners. Their food is excellent, and the menu varied. The wine list has a good selection. In summer, sit outside at one of the picnic tables overlooking Tryphena harbour. Especially nice when you stay on after dusk and see the reflection of boat lights in the water across the bay. Make a booking.

This unique café specialises in burgers and takeaways, and excellent coffee. It's easily accessed on the wharf as it's the only food outlet there. We both loved our huge burgers and reckoned that the coffee must have been made by a top class barista. If you're on the Barrier you must visit The Hub!

It's right up at the top, tucked away in Port Fitzroy, but visit fir the view- you'll certainly enjoy the rest. Run by a lovely local couple, the Boat club hosts events, does a decent breakfast, a good bar menu and stellar cold beers. Sit out on the deck, lock up at sunset rock, and enjoy the twinkling water of the harbour. There are also a small sampling of the managers baseball collection from around the world. Choose your fave or hometown from the 2000, or trade your own for a local one.

We arrived at GBI via Claris Airport. Make a left turn and you will see the sheds on the right hand side. One of these is the home of "Swallow". A family owned business who have certainly made a name for themselves with the quality and quantity of their food. In fact you won't be asking for more, but trust me, you'll be back.
Open 7 days a week. Delicious food, great prices, good people, cant go wrong!
Eftpos available. Also can provide catering for any size events :-)

I had occasion to stay on Great Barrier Island for 3 days late August.
I stayed in accommodation adjacent to Mulberry Grove Store, and establishment I patronised for all my meals whilst on the island.
Great host ( Franz) , great atmosphere ( daytime or evening ) and a well presented menu with a good cross section of traditional fare.
Stunning views of Tryphena harbour and I would thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Breakfast and lunch menu, homemade pies and cakes, sandwiches and regular specials.
So excited with the new ownership of my local cafe. The food is Devine. Trish and Tim are fantastic chefs and I do not hesitate recommending PA Beach Cafe to my lodge guests. Try the pies... leek and chicken is my favorite. Welcome to PA Beach guys.. .only problem will be my waistline!!!

We were part of a large group visiting and fortunately were able to sit outside under the umbrellas. Our quiche and salad lunch ( no options) followed by a poppy seed muffin cakes was fine though it would not have been our choice. Friendly atmosphere and Sunshine made this a worthwhile visit.
