Here you can eat typical Honduran food, steaks and kebabs. We came for lunch, ordered entraña - which was very good, and as a starter "fundido quesillo", it is like fondue, but made from cheese and beans. That was tasty! Two main courses and a starter for 2 people was too much:). Portions are big.
The staff was not speaking English, but the menu in both languages (Spanish and English) and what is more important there are pictures of food.

You will not find a better restaurant in El Progreso. JR's in clean, safe, and a beautiful layout. It is surrounded by their nursery. The interior is must unique with the tables made from local tree trunks. The food is great. Highly recommend going with the combination plate if you are with a group. The meats are excellent and you will not be able to eat it all. Prices are very reasonable. Great spot for group gatherings -- trey even have a heliport. El Progreso does not have much in the way of restaurants, but JR's is an exception. About 7 KM out of town on the road north to Tela.

they had plenty options on their menu,even for large groups,the staff was friendly and we didn't have to wait long.

I love rosquillas, and here they sell freshly backed, warm, home made rosqullas, tustacas and other home baked bread. Natural fruit juices, although very sweet, are refreshing. Other home made Honduran food is very affordable, clean bathrooms and friendly service.
