Iconic Maryland bar and restaurant serving famous crab dip, fresh & never frozen 100% beef burgers, fan-favorite wings, a $7.99 lunch menu, and a wide selection of local, craft, and specialty beers. Always a good game on TV, and every seat has a good view
I ate at The Greene Turtle on an overnight stay in Winchester. It was convenient to my hotel, so it seemed like a good option. Menu options were ok. I ordered a turkey club, which seemed like a safe option. However it was very disappointing. While it was made with nice turkey, not the deli meat kind, it was extremely bland. I also ordered mine with mayo instead of their sauce and it came without it. When I asked about it I was brought out a small container to apply to the sandwich myself, which turned into a huge mess at the bar where I was sitting, since I had to deconstruct the sandwich to apply the mayo. I guess I could have just dipped it but that somehow seems disgusting. I would not return here.

The setting is bar and grill from the 50's. The booth seats are from vintage automobiles, and lots of memorabilia from the time period. Food is slightly above average, but worth the trip to experience the place. Lots of motorcyclists stop by here - the friendly kind.

Stopped in to get a cold drink and stayed for lunch! Had the Reuben and a side of Amish Potato Salad and both were outstanding! Wish my hubby had even with me so he could have sampled their draft beer! Lots of choices! Could not believe the HUGE selection of craft beers to go! Wow!! Definitely will return!!

We were in town for the Bloomin Wine and Apple Blossom Fest. We were in within walking distance of tavern from festival site and our B&B. Mixed reviews on TA and recommendations from the B&B owner. But we were there for a wine festival, might as well give the Cork Street Tavern a try. Seating inside and out, smoking and non smoking. We wanted non. It was Friday night, not too busy and we were seated quickly. We placed and order for mozzarella sticks and they came out fairly quick. Our dinner selections were Chicken Marsala and the Pork Chop. Served with a mashed potatoes and a nice mix of veggies. The dinners did take longer to come out. Which was mentioned in reviews. I was going to inquire the next time our server came through but she had our dinners when she came out. The food was good. Other than the slow time of getting the actual dinners out it was an enjoyable meal.

After arriving in Winchester we decided to go to the downtown area and walk around, then get something to eat in the area. We chose 50/50 Taphouse. Great beer selection. I had the veggie burger with fries and my wife had a chicken sandwich with side salad. Everything was perfect. Great place to eat.

Met my daughter and her boyfriend here for lunch on 9/1. They got there first and told the server that a place setting for a third would be needed. Ultimately, it never came despite repeated requests. Thankfully, my daughter had oly "finger foods" and gave me hers. It took them >20 minutes to get their first beers as they were still waiting for them when I got there. It ended-up being that all three drinks arrived together after I'd ordered mine! When the beers arrived, we told the server we were ready to order. He said that he'd be back "in a few". To took care of several other customers before coming back to us.My daughter had their vegeburger, her boyfriend the veggie wrap, and I had the fish & chips. All of us agreed that the food is first rate. When my daughter and her boyfriend decided to have second beers, again they had to wait. And wait. And wait for service. Both my daughter and her boyfriend agreed that the beers were first rate. The "pineapple infused" apple cider I had was OK.The pricing was inline with what one expects for a wanna-be tourist destination that really isn't -Inflated! Since Winchester is an independent town (It's a stretch to call it a "city",), there's likely a "restaurant meals tax" added onto the tax you're already paying the Commonwealth. (Remember that Virginia is not a "state".) Note that this restaurant is on a street that has been converted to a pedestrian mall. Be prepared to walk several blocks. There is very little (if any) public parking with two unattended municipal garages within three or four blocks. Note that once garage charges $1.00 per hour while the other is only $0.50 per hour. Have one's at the ready when paying! Also, Winchester's streets are narrow with many one-way. Beware!Overall evaluation: While the food is very good, the service is terrible. My rating is an "average" between the food and the service. That's why it gets a "poor" instead of a "terrible". There are better restaurants and more business-friendly towns from which to choose I urge you to vote with your dollars and go elsewhere.

After a day of looking at houses in Winchester, VA.with our realtor, we were ready for a relaxing place for dinner where we could chat & generally decompress. We decided to return to "Oldtown" as it was a beautiful evening to eat outside under an umbrella. After checking out the options on Loudoun Street, we decided on Brewbakers with a nice outside table with an umbrella. I had a beer (nice IPA) and my wife had a glass of wine. For dinner, my wife had the Salmon and I had the "Fish & Chips". Our server Dennis helped us with the selections from the menu and generally did a very nice job. Our dinners were prepared as we had requested and were excellent. As we were walking to our car, we came upon a musician playing the trumpet on Loudoun St. We had brief chat with the musician and told him that we were just weeks away from our 50th Wedding Anniversary. He asked what was "our song" at our wedding. I was without an answer. After some thought, my wife came up with the answer. Our song was "Tenderly" ! So, we walked slowly to our car listening to the strains of "Tenderly" played beautifully on the trumpet ! A very nice evening !
