Reviews on Pub food in Ventura, California, United States. Ventura, officially the City of San Buenaventura, is the county seat of Ventura County, California, United States. European explorers encountered a Chumash village, referred to as Shisholop, in Ventura while traveling along the Pacific coast. The eponymous Mission San Buenaventura was founded nearby in 1782 where it benefitted from the water of the Ventura River. The town grew around the mission compound and incorporated in 1866. The development of nearby oil fields in the 1920s and the age of automobile travel created a major real estate boom during which many designated landmark buildings were constructed. The mission and these buildings are at the center of a downtown that has become a cultural, retail, and residential district and visitor destination.

Large outdoor patio that is very comfortable. Great atmosphere. They have a great happy hour with good prices on bar food and drinks. Service was a little slow but food was good. Friendly staff. The house that The Tavern became is over 100 years old and part of the historical society so that's cool.

Had a wonderful time- great ambiance- live music- food was delish- however the service was super slow , food was cold and the waiter was non attentive- to his defense he was super busy- but that is not the patrons fault. In addition the ad was showing prices that were totally incorrect and they wanted to up charge us for every little thing.disappointing.

On a Wednesday night, a very good jazz band played, and the drinks were good and reasonably priced. Did not try the food, mal though it looked good.

Winchesters Grill & Saloon is located in the heart of downtown Ventura. Winchesters is known for their high-quality steaks, chicken, and burgers, at very reasonable prices.
Casual family barbecue. The waitress was outstanding, the prices were reasonable but the Lamb Bacon Sandwich was very fatty and tough to chew. It was also very salty. I love lamb so anytime I can order it, I do. Never heard of lamb bacon before so thought I would give it a try. I also had the broccoli slaw. Didn't care for that either. I'm a big veggie eater. It was flavorless. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich, which he really enjoyed and my daughter had a hamburger which she said was very good. They also said the fries were good. I will give this place another try based on my husband and daughter's reviews. Hopefully I get luckier the 2nd time.Hello JD~Thank you for taking the time to review, it is greatly appreciated. Like you, I am a big fan of lamb, so when I saw this product at a food trade show several years ago, I had to try it. I felt a fairly traditional BLT was the best way to showcase it. I agree that it does not crisp up in the same fashion as pork bacon, which does give it a bit of a chewy consistency. I do like the flavor though. At any rate, I will thank you in advance for giving us a 2nd shot, and hopefully finding something on our menu that better suits you. Please give your husband and daughter my thanks and appreciation for their kind words. Look forward to having you all back again!Cheers,JR

Stopped in for a late dinner and beer - So many choices of wonderful beer - Pub type burgers. Service was a bit inattentative and the waiter/chef got the order wrong. Gouda cheese is not the same as pepper jack - and for someone who can't tolerate peppers....Kitchen was "closing" - no opportunity to address the problem

My wife and I had a great dinner and some Guinness here. I had the brazed lamb shank and she had one of the Irish meat pies. Both were excellent as well as the service.

Anacapa has been brewing its own beers for about 20 years and theyâre still doing a great job. We recently picked a flight of five beers for tasting (enjoyed them all!) and several appetizers to eat along with the beers. The ahi tuna and onion rings were our two favorite. If you like red ales, Santa Rosa Red is especially good. If you like pale ales, get Frenchyâs Cove Saison. Very refreshing and great taste!

Focusing on fresh, house made food along with specialty craft cocktails and beer. Casual atmosphere with friendly staff. Family friendly.
Thoroghly enjoyed dinner here! The beer was cold and delicious - nice selection! Try the brussels sprout appetizer - Yummy! The tri-tip melt was wonderful on that crispy bun! Service was at a nice pace - unhurried and not pushy. Will be back the next time we are in town!!!
