The Northern Cape (Afrikaans: Noord-Kaap; Tswana: Kapa Bokone) is the largest and most sparsely populated province of South Africa. It was created in 1994 when the Cape Province was split up. Its capital is Kimberley. It includes the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, an international park shared with Botswana. It also includes the Augrabies Falls and the diamond mining regions in Kimberley and Alexander Bay. The Namaqualand region in the west is famous for its Namaqualand daisies. The southern towns of De Aar and Colesberg, in the Great Karoo, are major transport nodes between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. In the northeast, Kuruman is known as a mission station and also for its artesian spring, the Eye of Kuruman. The Orange River flows through the province, forming the borders with the Free State in the southeast and with Namibia to the northwest. The river is also used to irrigate the many vineyards in the arid region near Upington.

Spoil your family & eat out at Del Rio Spur, we are the best steakhouse & burger restaurant in Kuruman. Bring along your kids for some great tasting food & dessert from our famous Spur menu.
Last week we attended the Del Rio Spur in Kuruman that we have frequently visited in the past. They have improved quite a bit but this experience was Very Disappointing. It was a Monday and the Burger Special day, thus the plave was very full. The waiters were out of their comfort zone due to being to few on shift and service was poor. We were 4 adults with 2 babies and one todler and our starters were burnt(crumbed mushrooms) and we left after 3 hours without enjoying our meal as we have not received it yet. They gave it as a take-away but they will NOT see us soon due to this shocking poor food and poor service experience.Dear dreyern74,Thank you for taking the time to review our Del Rio Spur Restaurant. We're so sorry to hear that this was your experience. That certainly doesn't sound like the level of service or food quality we pride ourselves on. If you wouldn't mind forwarding this review on, together with your contact details to [email protected]. We'd really like the opportunity to discuss this further with you and hopefully turn it around. Kind regards, Spur Steak Ranches
Our breakfasts were cold and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The bacon was limp (not crispy as promised as we saw it cooked in a microwave), the banana overcooked and the eggs and toast cold. At least the coffee was hot.We complained to the manager who listened and then talked to the kitchen staff. He didn't ask what he could do to improve the situation or offer a replacement meal. The owner came over a few minutes later and he was just as useless. We were presented with the bill (with no discount) and the waitress then asked if we wanted our change - as if we were going to leave a tip! I'd avoid this restaurant unless you enjoy being disappointed.Dear AndrewD,Thank you for taking the time to review our Desert Moon Spur restaurant. I rated this 1 star because there isnât an option for 0 stars. The restaurant/pub area is un-inviting and the wait staff were more occupied with their friends. I ordered a beer from the bar upon my arrival and sat outside. In the 45 minutes that I was there no one attended to me so I left. I ended up going to Dros which was a great move- I had a wonderful meal and the wait staff were excellent.

Under new ownership! Mar-e-Sol is a fully licensed family friendly pub. We show rugby and other sports. We have an amazing menu, inside and outside dining area.Come join us for a great dining experience!
If you want to mix with locals this is the place to be! Owner Rozelle is very knowledgeable on the diamond industry and loves to tell about it! Her personal approach makes you feel at home. Enjoy drinks and honest food! No fresh fish available due to strict quota for fishermen. We were very off season so not many quests at the restaurant expect for some locals. We had fun and enjoyed the numerous stories and local atmosphere. Thank you Rozelle!

All roads lead through Colesberg, as it is located in the centre of South Africa. Enjoy true Karoo hospitality in this charming town where The Horse and Mill Guesthouse is the perfect haven for weary, hungry, and thirsty travelers. The guest house is situ
I stopped over here on my way to Cape Town with my sons, who were about to start their studies at university. I ad booked for 3 persons, but got a triple room with no less than beds for 7 and a baby cot! Very clean and the aircon was necessary, as it was 35 degrees outside. Jackie, the manager was super helpful and arranged secure parking and sorted out our room for us.Thank you very much for this very nice review Looking forward to have you at Horse and Mill again

Thanks to TA, we went to dinner at JC's whilst stopping in Colesburg for the night. We were especially looking for Lamb, a local delicacy. Not disappointed, owner managed and run, cold beer and great lamb. Other dishes going past looked good as well, Anyway, we had lamb shank and lamb chops. We shared th meat. Both the shank and the chops were great, as well as the rice and veggies. Would go again.

Fantastic find in the middle of nowhere... and so great to find that they cater for vegetarians too! I had the homemade veggie patty on my burger, it was delicious! We all enjoyed our food. Also what an interesting bar next door! Nice little play park for the kids too. Some interesting goodies and crafty gifts, homemade jams and chutneys etc. at the shop. Will definitely stop there again to eat!
