The food is nothing to write home about, although the staff are friendly enough and the place has been extensively refurbed recently. Was disappointing that dessert could not be ordered at the same time as the main meal- instead having to go to the til after eating and order/pay for dessert. Not really forward-thinking for a restaurant. Expected better, to be honest.Thanks for your feedback. We are very proud of our food and would disagree that it is only so so. With regards to your ordering. We can only imagine that you were sitting outside and yes Iâm sorry we donât offer tabs outside (too many people have historically forgotten to pay) but you should have been able to order whatever you liked at whatever time you wanted it. Thanks for this info we willow into this.

We went yesterday for dinner and I must say the food was really tasty. I had sea bass delicious the green beans and the fish was perfectly cooked. My husband had steak and ale pie and next time Iâm getting that. My son had a chicken burger and the chorizo relish was so tasty. Then we shared a brownie I liked the chewiness but would serve with vanilla ice cream rather than chocolate. We also had sticky toffee pudding and that was ok. We had drinks and the meal was just shy of £70 not bad I thought. Service was fine just a bit of a delay between main and sweet. I like to wait but at 20 mins we had to remind the staff. They were great and desserts arrived. This place is on my doorstep so I will be back.Thanks for the lovely review and glad to hear you all enjoyed it. By all means next time ask for Vanilla Ice Cream! We can certainly do that for you! Apologies about the wait for desserts, sounds like a bit of a mishap on our side but again glad you enjoyed them. Had a very enjoyable lunch. The staff was very friendly, the food was great and the prices extremely reasonable. I was very impressed with the fact that all our meals were piping hot. Will certainly visit again on next visit over from the States.

Old men walking from Crosby to Southport in dire need for comfort , warmth and rest found all three at The Fishermens' Rest.Great pub, very well presented, excellent food with great service and reasonable prices.We left with spirits renewed.The only problem it is exceedingly popular.

We came for a meal with friends on Saturday the 19th of October. The staff are always cheerful, efficient and helpful. We all had a starter and main coarse. We were to full for deserts. I tried the beer & cheddar soup which was delicious. We all had different main coarses, but I had the steak and ale pie. Again, delicious. The food is very reasonably priced and always delicious and well presented with plenty of fresh vegetables. The food is realy good value for money and I would recommend that anyone who hasnât been yet, should give it a try. Great Value!!!Hi Rachael, what a lovely review to read after another busy weekend. Regulars at this establishment, have been coming for years. Food is always lovely and atmosphere is great. Service from the waitress Rachel is always great and constant service with a smile. Would recommend to friends and family!

We walked in and hadnât booked- luckily we got a table as the restaurant soon filled up!All of our meals were enjoyed without a single complaint!We received great service and the restaurant has quality decor and feels relaxed and warm.Iâd love to visit again when Iâm in the area.

It another Wetherspoon Clone. Good beer, cheap food and plenty of seating. Nothing special but better than most other Pubs in FormbyIt worthy of note that on an occasion the kitchen was not going to be available till 11am make us go elsewhere for breakfast.
