Popped by with friends on a Friday evening for drinks. The service received from the female on duty was wholly unsatisfactory-the worst we have probably encountered. We ordered a bottle of prosecco for 3 of us .The bottle itself and contents were warm as indeed was one of the wine glasses-no flutes here-which clearly had just come out of the washer,no attempt having been made to cool it down. Was not an inexpensive purchase either! The other drink-a spirit and mixer arrived without a slice of lemon/lime.None the four of us are likely to return.

The restaurant is listed in the Phone Book, Tayside 2009/10. Phone No: 01307 462722.
Tried to book for family meal but was told the restaurant is closed,(apparently for over two weeks now). I've since found out that not one but two chefs have walked out! No Christmas day bookings then!Amidst rumours that the management is yet again about to change after Christmas, its so sad to see this great Forfar establishment going down hill yet again.Even the bar is quiet! You seem to be the one who complains about all the staff and also want it to remain open but feed information about closure after Christmas. Think you are a rumour mongerer and someone who should stop upsetting staff

Visited 11.15 a.m. approximately for coffee and an anticipated hot filled roll. We were the only two customers and the staff member was less than welcoming. No possibility of a filled roll as kitchen didn't open till 12 midday - despite a poster saying 2 drinks and 2 pizzas all day, every day (can't remember the cost). Inquired about a biscuit to go with the coffee - no chance as the biscuits were in multipacks and staff member didn't have the code to open them. Obviously not a good time to visit as had heard positive accounts of lunches. Overall a very disappointing experience and certainly won't be returning.Dear VioletJ_13Unfortunately, you came in a bit early as we open at noon till 9pm Monday - Friday and 9.30am to 9pm Saturday and Sunday. At 11.15 our kitchen staff are not working yet so unfortunately a filled role was not an option.A poser does state Pizza all day but thatâs only during our food service times as advertised.I'm sure you will have a positive visit if you came in for lunch, please feel free to give me a call so I can reserve you a table.Kind regards,Jamie OliphantGeneral Managerr

Bistro - Bar - Functions Taken over in November 17â from a hard working family,The Plough has a had a facelift eventually! Offering home made fare in The bistro from breakfast to evening meals. Something for everyone at affordable prices. Have a look for
Not exactly a bar that sells food, more a bistro style restaurant that has a bar. The landlord, Stuart? was very friendly & welcoming. The steak pie looked marvellous but I went for the prawn salad which was five star. The homemade pudding of orange cake with a chocolate sauce was to die for....would have been worth the visit to Forfar just for that

Enjoyed a drink as a trip down memory lane. Was my local 30 years ago and although changed a lot it's still a great pub with great beer. Location is great right in town centre down a small alleyway. Take a walk round Forfar Loch and enjoy your drink afterwards.

For 7.50 pounds the menu offered pidgon and the poor unfriendly waitress recommended it. two smll poorly cooked medalions of meat the size of a tablespoon! This resturant should be imbarrased to serve such a rip off. Stay away from this Edzel joint; way to pround of themselves. worst lunch i've ever had in any country and a shame for Scotland.

We have been to the Chapter and Verse a couple of times during a weeks stay in Forfar. Large varied menu - the food was plentiful and of good quality. The service was great on the first visit, but a little slow on the second. All in all, great meals.

We try to arrange a stop for lunch here on our frequent trips from Aberdeenshire to Glasgow, ok it means leaving the dual carriageway at Forfar/Perth and hazarding the cameravan which seems permanently operational on the only stretch of road high affords the opportunity to passThat moan of my chest, the food and service afforded by the Strathmore Arms are very good, busy for Sunday lunch so worth booking. Donât think youâll be disappointed
