Tip 1 : it's "the" place for late night drinks. Tip 2: talk to the other guests. The locals here are the greatest most entertaining bunch you could want to meet.A must do in Carmel. Look for Zach and ask him about his Top hat. Of find your lost Irish cousins ...the MacSweeney's ....who are really Sweeney's. These locals build their own Harley's ! Fantastic and the service is Great! Go!

I read about Barmel as a great local bar to have a drink and possible listen to music. I stopped in after dinner around 8:30 one evening. Granted it was a Monday, but I found an empty bar, save for one local fellow sitting at the dark bar, and music playing from Pandora or some other music service.I had a cocktail, surveyed the surroundings, watch one of the bar employees cleaning up... listened to the local chatting to the bartender... and ultimately flagged the bartender down handing off a $10 bill and getting a dollar back... walked out.Probably good during the weekends or later in the week, but Monday night, take a pass.

Lovely mixture of food here (try the pork salsa verde) and a great selection of beers. Service was really nice as well, our waiter (Eli) was superb. Recommended.

We came here for dinner with our 3 year old. We were immediately sat by the fireplace, (so lovely) and the waitress brought our son colouring supplies and pizza dough to play with within minutes- so smart and kept him busy!we ordered pizza- half the Thai pie and half the combo- the Thai was AMAZING! The combo was good too but oh my gosh we loved the Thai. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

Guinness on tap! Friendly staff, good happy hour, reasonable prices. There are sports TVâs and a large bar. Seating also available at tables, but it is not a large place. Parking on the street only. Regular menu is average.

Popped into this pub for a beer after a very nice Pizza downstairs in Allegro's. The bar folks we're friendly and fun and the atmosphere welcoming. Really great little pub

Frankly, other than the beach--which is a great beach--the small city of Carmel is awful. Stuffed with art galleries of bland, over-priced work no one with any taste will ever buy, block after block of boring architecture, and almost nowhere reasonable to eat. As such, A.W.Shucks was a real find (recommended by a local shopkeeper when we were about to give up searching for spot where we could relax and eat dinner). It's a typical American bar; dark, plush, sports on TV, and generally tasteless beer. But the waitress was friendly and the food (we ate fish, meat and vegetarian dishes) was very tasty. So, if you have to stop at Carmel, stop here.
