This is another pub & eatery that has been here FOREVER! Diamond's point is where US23 & Werth Road meet. The Tavern was behind the gas station. It was a quiet little neighborhood bar. Since it became Bogarts, it has developed a clientele of younger people who enjoy kicking back & spending time with friends. But you'll find the old geezers from the nearby VFW Post there rubbing elbows too. It is a comfortable place we Up-North folks know about & visitors may stumble upon. Lucky Visitors.
Every so often a pal of mine & I decide we REALLY want a good Bar Burger & a Cold Beer. This is the place to go. It's on ninth street across the street from the Court House. It used to be a big old 1900-1920's house that has pretty much had the first floor made into one big room with arches here & there to keep the place up. Of course it has its pool table... what bar in Alpena Michigan doesn't? But there is still room to relax on the retro 1940-50's tables & chairs - straight out of grandma's kitchen. Looking at the back bar, is like looking into the past. Somebody ought to film a movie here. This place would fit great. Atmosphere. CASUAL, like clean your boots at the door.
We stopped here and had a few drinks and played pool. The specials were martinis. We are not martini drinkers but we decided to have some anyway. The bartender apparently isn't a martini drinker either because he poured them out in front of us and made it again. Average bar.

Some places have been there for so long, that no matter who owns them or what they do to the place, it is an institution in its own right. That's the Hideaway! It was about Halfway between Alpena and Rogers City. The sign over the north door reads Rogers City. The sign over the South door reads Alpena. Back when I was a little skeezer, there was a Sunken Dance Floor, and along the railing protecting patrons from falling into it, was a wonderful old shuffleboard table. The Real thing! As you stepped down to the dance floor, there on the floor was a shiny silver dollar. Many's the patron that stooped down to pick up that coin. But it would not be picked up. It was bolted through the floor. D'ya see what I mean when I say it's an institution in its own right?

Great local restaurant with very good food and exceptional service! Specials reflect what's locally current. Beers on tap, ok wine all at at reasonable prices. Crystal generally works the bar, but she's one of the top folks there, so ask for her if possible!

This is one of the nicest fish fry I have had in a long time. The breading was really light and fish was nice and fresh.

Microbrewery and full service brewpub featuring Austin Brothers' beer and a rotating seasonal pub food menu.
Went to restaurant yesterday to meet with business associates of my husbands. First, let me say our server was fabulous. Attentive without being invasive. Helpful on recommendations. Very upbeat. Rest of my party enjoyed their food. I did not. Iâve been here before but it was a while ago. I really enjoyed my food back then. I am not an adventurous eater. I literally could only find 1 item that I thought I would eat. Everything had some type of spice or twist as if they are trying so hard to make every dish so different they forgot about the rest of us. I ordered the burger. It was quite big and the bun was really greasy. Kept sliding out of my hands with every bite. I took couple bits and just couldnât have anymore. I tried the fries. Again, I donât see what is wrong with plane French fries. The garlic mayo was fine. Again, they donât have regular mayo. Ketchup is homemade. It was ok. I will not be back until menu changes again.
