Lahaina, the former Hawaiian capital, was the center of the global whaling trade, and its Historic District is a National Historic Landmark. Traditional Hawaiian luaus, surf lessons and tours on horseback are fun, but let’s be realistic—you wouldn’t be in Hawaii if you didn’t want to go to the beach. Try Ka’anapali Beach, one of Maui’s best.

We have award winning photography from Andrew Shoemaker in all sizes from 8"x12" up to 10'x10'. Andrew is a local photographer living and working in Maui. He also shoots weddings and special events all over the world. We carry beautiful handmade furniture from Fiji as well. The furniture is made from solid leather and palmwood, which is insect and moisture proof wood from the coconut palm trees, in a comfortable, elegant atmosphere.
I first discovered Andrew Shoemaker Photography on a vacation to Maui in 2019 and had the pleasure of meeting Andrew (the photographer). He took the time to talk with me about his passion for photography, the islands and the beauty he shares with the world. His photography is stunning and Andrew is humble, friendly and personable. I really enjoyed and appreciated him sharing the "back stories" behind different photos. I make a point of stopping into his gallery each time I am in Maui, and while I am not one to buy art (especially when on vacation), I fell in love with "Edge of Creation" during a visit in the spring of 2019 and he kindly had it shipped directly to my home in Alaska. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. When I spent Christmas 2019 in Maui and had a chance to visit Andrew and his gallery again, I was pleasantly surprised that he remembered me. It was another great visit, and I added "Opposing Forces" and "Enchanted Garden" to my "must-haves". Once again, shipping was fast and the experience was excellent. The gallery has so many beautiful pieces and they are able to order them in a variety of sizes to fit your space and budget. II recommend that you visit his gallery, and strongly encourage you to support this wonderful artist and his work.

We checked this place out as a sunset adventure during surf camp and it was so cool seeing this historic site. The unfortunate part is the bits of vandalism thrown it.

Hale Pa‘ahao (stuck-in-irons house) was Lahaina’s “new” prison in the 1850s. During the peak of the whaling era, as you can imagine, the small village of Lahaina was rampant with rowdy sailors who were ready for fun and relaxation along with villagers who were willing to play and trade with them. FREE 20-minute parking available in front of the Gatehouse Entrance.
We enjoyed this free attraction while staying in Maui. There were some iterative exhibits which told a story of the early whalers

In Feb. 2019, I visited this Hilo Hattie's in Lahaina and was sorely disappointed. However, that store now has been closed, and a new, improved Hilo Hattie's has opened in the same shopping complex across the parking lot from the old store. What an improvement! It appears to be a little larger, but best of all, the aloha spirit has returned to the business. Staff are friendly and helpful, the lei welcome is back, and there's more apparel from which to choose. When checking out, the associate saw to it that all discounts and freebies were cheerfully offered. So, what was a bad experience last year was a distinct pleasure this time around. Mahalo, Hilo Hattie!
