Scenic lookout over the rim of the Grand Canyon, named for painter Thomas Moran, whose brilliant canvases of the scene influenced Congress in the decision to create a Grand Canyon national park.
Moran Point is spectacular. Probably my favorite stop along the East Rim Drive. Would love to see it at sunrise

Accessed by the free shuttle towards Hermits Rest or by foot, Powell Point gives another perspective to the Canyon to augment the more common views from closer to Grand Canyon Village. I especially appreciated looking down on the trail the Plateau Point immediately afternoon walking to it and back. The bronze memorial to the Powell expedition was a major point of contention between the park service and Ralph Cameron who tried to make the Grand Canyon his personal fiefdom. I had heard the story on Ken Burn’s The National Parks: America’s Best Idea but it meant much more upon repeat viewing after visiting this spot. Please be prepared for waiting longer to catch a later shuttle back if the one you meant to board fills up, even in April.

Drove here from Phoenix to the south rim, and this is a great park!! Plenty of wildlife outside in natural habitat and the views of the canyon are amazing!!! $35 gets you in and can come back for one week with receipt. Would definitely come back to see north rim in the future!!

The hub of activity at the Grand Canyon's South Rim, this busy village offers hotels, shops and restaurants from fast food to fine dining.
After viewing the canyon we drove around the village. It has some lodging and a really nice General Store. The General Store has a lot of super cute souvenirs and also groceries for if you’re staying there. It was really adorable. It’s a little hard to find the park exit (it was also heavily snowing when we were there) but overall it’s a really nice little village in the park.

We experienced the depot on our arrival to and departure from the Grand Canyon Village, on the Grand Canyon Railroad. It was like a step back in time, seeing this turn-of-the-last-century wooden structure greeting our arrival. It's a picturesque reminder of a bygone era. (Thankfully though, there was a current century courtesy van, to take us up to the Bright Angel Lodge).

This was our first stop and was maybe my favorite. The first time you see the canyon is a special moment. Even more so when you see the wide eyes of a 10 year old as his jaw drops in awe. He almost couldn't contain his excitement. With this being our first stop we were 1 of may a dozen people at this location which also made it special. I would recommend this as your first view of the canyon as it gives you good one. It also can be a little less trafficed that some of the other locations. Overall you can never replace the first time seeing the canyon or the moment that all expectations of a 10 year old are blow out of the water.

We had two rooms and both were fab! The staff were wonderful and quite accommodating with our needs. Their multi-option choice breakfast (included in the room rate) is in a restaurant on-site in the charming western village - also with superb staff! We also ate lunch there with our canyon VIP pass, as that meal was included on the day pass ticket. We ate dinner on arrival (at our own cost) and they had fab BBQ ribs and chicken options. Live music with a fun and engaging guitarist. Free and ample parking lot. The shuttle drivers (as no vehicles allowed) between our canyon pass sites were all so friendly and helpful! Cute shops, roping classes, zip lining (seasonal, of course), a night campfire with S’Mores (year round), and plenty of free photo op areas aside from the spectacular canyon and sunrise/sunsets! The only issue was that in one of our cabins the sliding pocket door to the bathroom kept sliding open. Aside from that all was great!! We can’t wait to return!
