I give the title because there's nothing extraordinary about my fitness, and the climb doesn't have any specific elements that cannot be accomplished. Now doing the totality of the climb? ...that's going to vary from person to person. It's definitely a lower body workout. I'm a 51 year old father joining up with my 25 year old son. Neither of us are experienced at real mountain trails/hikes, but are in adequate shape to take on the challenge. Left at 6:20am (to get a parking spot and cool temps). We tend to be Point A to Point B kind of people, but that works just fine in an uphill climb because nothing goes by too fast. The first section of wooded trails was a nice workout. We were longing to get to section 2...the boulder field. There are helpful cairns to guide you through 'best options' as you zigzag a little...but about half way up, we just opted for a straight-up climb. Only saw one mountain goat at the top of the boulder field (we thought to see a herd)...not sure if time of day has anything to do with that. We'd only been in the altitude of Silverthorne for a couple days, so that may have affected how we felt. The last section is essentially a rock meadow, but still a very uphill climb. We made it to the summit in 2 hours (including many pics and snack breaks along the way), stayed at the top for 25 minutes, and descended in 1 1/2 hours. Again, in the boulder field, we primarily opted for our own straight down path (saving some time, but putting ourselves in less secure footing quite often0. So for us, it was less than 4 hours (including 25 minutes at the top). Don't have much to compare it to in terms of other mountain climbing experiences...but for us, it was well worth it (and we're no worse for the wear). The views were as we had hoped.

Really cool park! A larger playground for older kids, a smaller playground for younger kids, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, and a skate park! Plus bathrooms and drinking fountains next to covered pavilions with picnic tables! And awesome views too!

Excellent hike for families of all ages with beautiful vistas. Bring water and a snack so you can enjoy the lake before the return trip. We walked around the lake and kept our dog on the leash as required. There is a $125.00 fine of dogs are off leash.
