Kutaisi (Georgian: ქუთაისი [kʰutʰɑisi]; ancient names: Aea/Aia, Kotais, Kutatisi, Kutaïsi) is the legislative capital of Georgia, and its 3rd most populous city. Situated 221 kilometres (137 miles) west of Tbilisi, on the Rioni River, it is the capital of the western region of Imereti. Historically one of the major cities of Georgia, it served as the capital of the Kingdom of Georgia in the Middle Ages, and later as the capital of the Kingdom of Imereti. The Parliament of Georgia moved to Kutaisi in 2012, in an effort to both acknowledge the status of the city, and to decentralise the Georgian government.

Tskenistsckali tributary Okatse 70meter in height flowing down Kinchhkibi hollow and throught narrow bottom of Gordi Canyon and joins the river Tshkenisckali near the village Gelaverdi. In some places Okatse creates small lakes where you can swim. On the territory of the village Gordi river flowing leads you down to 2-5 width canyon where it is cold even in August. Okatse waterfalls with its beautiful surroundings are the favourite places for people from Khoni or Kutaisi to spend time or have a picnic. They get pleasure from this beautiful nature and at the same time drink vodka (Chkutini) made from local wild pear.
Nice walk to the canyon after which you will find an amazing view over the area. Possibility to go there by bus but I recommmend to walk. Put on some good shoes.

The end of a busy day sight seeing, the gardens were our last visit. Time to chill and wander around slowly taking in all the different plant and trees species. We sat around the huge tree just admiring its superb stature. The little ‘church’ was a surprise discovery in a hollowed our tree. Cost only one Lari and on a gorgeous day like we had was well worth the visit. It can be walked to from the centre in about 20 mins.
