Minions, Hurlers and Cheesewring circular walk

A circular walk around the iconic landmarks at Minions, including The Hurlers stone circles, The Cheesewring and the engine houses of the Phoenix mines.

Reviewed By places2seeplaces2go - England, United Kingdom

Stayed in North Cornwall October2020 for a week & just catching up with reviews. We visited the area of Minions twice taking in walks to The Hurlers/Cheesewring & the disused tin mines. We visited in October & had no trouble in parking. Not entirely sure if we did the circular walk or not, but we had great fun exploring the area.

Mylor to Flushing circular walk

A circular walk within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from Mylor along the creeks of Carrick Roads to Flushing. 4.1 miles. Steepness: easy-moderate.

Reviewed By GinHappy50 - Oxfordshire, United Kingdom

This is a very dog friendly walk, there are a few styles but they are easy to negotiate. There are a couple of good pubs in Flushing and a cute little cafe.

River Dart Country Park

Set in 90 acres of parkland within Dartmoor National Park, the River Dart Country Park is one of Devon’s best-loved family tourist attractions and campsites. The park is packed with activities, so get here early for a great day out, or stay longer, and explore Devon, from our award-winning campsite and holiday park!

Having visited River Dart Country Park last year on a school trip for one day, I decided to book again for two days as there was so much more to do! It was brilliant. On the first day, half of the group did the high ropes course whilst the other half explored the glorious site. It’s beautifully kept, well signposted and well staffed such that letting them roam is no stress at all! All students (11-14) loved it; on a hot day, what could be better than jumping in and out of the cold river with your friends? Lunch consisted of generously filled sandwiches, crisps, chocolate, fruit and a bottle of water. Plus there’s a great shop filled with exciting sweets/ice creams for the kids to buy which, of course, they did. When we returned the next day, half of our group did zorbing and zip wiring while the other half did raft building. Again, a great time was had by all! The staff were very encouraging and kind to those who struggled with the heights. All in all, the CRS adventures staff, as well as the River Dart team, were so accommodating and so professional that the day was made a pleasure. They even let staff have a go at the activities, which is great! Will keep returning to this place time and again, and would definitely recommend to families and schools alike!

Lovely walk through pretty woods followed by a leisurely and very delicious lunch. Interesting choices all of which were good. Thoroughly enjoyed the ratatouille served in a baked aubergine and topped with goat's cheese.

Stannon Moor prehistoric relics circular walk

A circular walk around Stannon Moor near St Breward with panoramic views of Bodmin Moor, passing stone circles, burial chambers and other prehistoric monuments to a massive granite boulder balanced on Louden Hill which gently rocks if you sit on it. 3.9 miles. Steepness: easy-moderate.

Reviewed By 291sheilat - Bodmin, United Kingdom

This easy to moderate 3.9 mile walk takes you past some very ancient parts of Bodmin Moor including stone circles, a buriel chamber and remains of settlements as well as the rocking Logan rock. (give it a try), delightful on a sunny day, I very nearly stepped on a skylarks nest just missing it by inches.

A mostly circular walk to Cornwall's two highest tors passing prehistoric remains including the holy well, summit cairns and settlements. 5.2 miles. Moderate-strenuous.

Followed this route on Viewranger and is well worth doing. Great views, not too taxing and easy to navigate. Can be a bit boggy in places so wear decent walking shoes.
