A.I.R. Vallauris

Located in the heart of the old town of Vallauris, A.I.R. Vallauris (Artists In Residence) welcomes international artists from all horizons in its accommodations and workshops. The non-profit association allow them to meet and collaborate with local artists and to research and create new work in an artistic laboratory created specifically for them. Created in October 2001, over 200 artists of 30 different nationalities have participated in the A.I.R. Vallauris program. The Gallery Aqui Siam Ben showcases and the exhibition and sale of the unique and original works created by international artists in residence. This exhibition is continuously updated with new works. Also exhibited in the gallery are works from the Atelier Aqui Siam Ben. This studio specializes in the creation of original series of decorative and functional ceramic objects in limited edition. The use of various techniques, materials and firing methods offers the public a considerable variety of ceramic creation to discover while preserving the traditional models of Vallauris Golden Age.

Salle Arias Picasso

Atelier Madoura

Currently closed for works (January 2020) The Madoura pottery is a unique, exceptional place. From 1946, Pablo Picasso, followed by a number of artists including Marc Chagall, Victor Brauner and Matisse, were hosted here by Suzanne and Georges Ramie, leaving their indelible mark on the history of art, ceramics and Vallauris itself. This spectacularly well-preserved hub of art, history and creativity is home to a permanent collection of ceramics by Picasso and Suzanne Ramie as well as contemporary art exhibitions.

Musee Magnelli, Musee de la ceramique

Former priory of the monks of Lérins, which was reconstructed in the 16th century, the Magnelli Museum, Museum of Ceramics is one of the rare Renaissance edifices to be found in the region. Opened in 1977, the museum houses a collection of ceramic works while the second floor is devoted to the Florentine painter Alberto Magnelli. The Museum of Ceramics collection presents various aspects of Vallauris's ceramics industry from yesterday and today. The museum also plays host to the largest public collection of artworks by Italian painter Alberto Magnelli (1888 - 1971), one of the masters of abstract painting. Comprising 47 paintings assembled during the artist’s life-time, this collection was acknowledged by Magnelli himself to be the essential backbone of his lifework, from “Neve” (oil on canvas, 1910) to his very last works dated 1969. One common ticket is sold for two museums (Magnelli museum, Museum of Ceramics and the national Museum - War & Peace Chapel)
