Launched in 2002 as the first cultural startup center in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Kunst- und Kulturzentrum (arts and cultural center) - short: KuK - in Monschau has become a forum for international photography. Every year, 35,000 people from far and wide visit the historical building in the old town of Monschau in order to see the temporary exhibitions of high-profile photographers and to enter the discourse with other visitors. As mentioned, the focus lies on the art genre photography, and the exhibitions of world-renowned and respected photographers are attractive across the region and beyond: a unique feature. Works by artists such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt, Vivian Maier, Anton Corbijn and Berenice Abbott have already fascinated many tens of thousands of visitors. Furthermore, there are quite often exclusive exhibitions and German premieres. There are no permanent but four to five temporary exhibitions p.a.

One day it could produce its own beer again. Before that happens there still is enough to see for a modest entrance fee. Make sure to check out the cellar that has had more than one purpose in it's history. Afterwards sit outside and enjoy a beer!
