World War II Memorial

Reviewed By Vukojebinje - London, United Kingdom

Living in Russia at the time I went to Uzbekistan, I was very much used to seeing World War II memorials in any place I went to - but, even so, I found this one particularly moving and impressive. Its setting in a peaceful and well cared for park, coupled with the beautifully designed structures surrounding the eternal flame, make for a very moving place of contemplation and remembrance. I’d recommend visiting the park (which joins Independence Square) in general, but also simply in order to see this memorial.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Monument

Reviewed By Alok_Nahata - Alor Setar, Malaysia

As Late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri passed away in Tashkent, his memories have been treasured in the form of a monument by the Uzbek Government as a mark of respect to the great man. He is a much respected man in Uzbekistan. Being an Indian, when I came to know that there is a monument where a statue of Shastriji and a separate street named "Shastri street" exists in Tashkent, I could not wait to get to this place. Surrounded by a garden, the statue of Shastriji is present in the center and the street leading to this place has been named as Shastri Street. Every Indian visiting Tashkent should visit this place and pay respects to one of the greatest PM's India has ever had. A must go place and it is almost in the city center, easy to reach from every part of the city. Proud feelings.....
