This pastry and tortilla factory is a hidden gem ...at least hidden from those of us looking for great Mexican pastries. I suspect the baker may be more southern than Mexico because many of the items were of Central American and Argentinian origin but all were outstanding. The croissants filled with dulce de leche are great. Everything looks very appealing (I bought a large bag full of assorted items seeings as how I had come some 60 miles from home in search of good Mexican cuisine (found next door at Taqueria El Paraiso). They even had a selection of tres leches cakes from which to choose. I'll be returning often.
We ordered the Chile Verde dinners. It had a very strong flavor and tasted awful. One bite and I threw the rest away. Will not be returning!
My wife bought a Groupon for Carnitas Mexican and we loved it. It took me almost 10 years to find good Mexican food in Charlotte and we now have a half dozen good places, and this is one of the best. Being from SoCal I am a Mexican food snob and this place is really good

There are nights on occassion when we are headed home at such a late hour that fast food Taco Bell is all that is open. This Taco Bell location is always quick, the staff is always nice and the food is always hot. We enjoy the $2 menu and we've never gotten a meal that we didn't enjoy.
As a transplant from Northern California to Southern Carolina, I get a longing for Mexican food that hasn't been tamed (read dumbed down) for Southern taste buds. To satisfy that longing I have been known to drive long and far and all too often found disappointment. That is until I wandered onto Walkup Ave, just east of the 601(W. Roosevelt). There I found Taqueria El Paraiso tucked into a small mall along next to a nail salon and La Guerrerese Tortilla Factory. Although they don't have Mission style burritos (let's face it that's strictly a NoCal item) they did serve up a torta barbacoa that just may be the best north of the border. Because I figured I might as well eat a week's worth of great Mexican food while I was there, I had a taco al pastor ... street style and EXCELLENT for a starter and a plato de chili rellenos which had just the right amount of heat and care of preparation. The pico de gallo salsa was super fresh and the kind you could just eat by the bowl full. The tortilla chips were warm and probably from the tortilla factory next door. A perfect find and the choice of Spanish speaking locals. I shall return!

We have been dinning with our family almost weekly since the restaurant opened. We love the food, the friendly wait staff and the top shelf margaritas. When choosing our location for dinner, El Vallarta is always the first choice for our crew. Some of our favorites include the cheese steak burrito, pollo chipotle, chicken quesadillas and their table side Guacamole. We really enjoy dinner on the patio when the weather permits. âElâas my family calls it, is one of our favorites!

I met for lunch and we arrived around 11:00. We were seated immediately and a server quickly arrived with chips and salsa. The chips were warm, the salsa fresh and we had plenty of napkins and given silverware. This location is near the Secrest Shortcut area and easy to get to staying off of Hwy 74 for the Mint Hill or Indian Trail area. There is a traffic light at the shopping center that houses things life an office store and other establishments. This restaurant has it's wn stand alone building. It was clean and there was plenty of parking. The menu looked so good. It was hard deciding what to get. I ordered a Pollo Tequila that was a chicken dish with pineapple and it came with rice and avocado salad as well as sour cream. There was plenty and it was on the lunch menu for $7.50. VERY affordable and plenty of food. The meal arrived hot and fresh and our sever checked on us several times and filled our water as needed. It was my first time here and I WILL go back. I have a few friends that LOVE this place and I am looking to go back with a few of them!

The salsa choices were the best Iâve seen and tasted in THE WORLD. Free cheese dip! Thatâs unheard of in...anywhere. The service was fast and our waitress was SO sweet and helpful. I had the shrimp tacos Iâve never had better! Seriously. And shrimp tacos are MY JAM. My mother had the shredded chicken chimichanga and it was HUGE and I swear she proposed to it. (It didnât say âyes...â:( )My 3 year old had a beef quesadilla and rice and beans... he ate the quesadilla and I had his helping of rice and beans. YUMMMMMM!!Go here. Youâll want to move in. Itâs so worth it. 100% worth it.
