Moe's Southwest Grill

Don't bother. Been to other Moe's in other areas, don't waste your time on this chain. Every one I have ever been to has been a bad experience. Vowed to never step foot in another one but broke my promise and regretted it. Husband was hungry and wanted to go in. I begrudgingly had to follow. Place was DIRTY! No one swept or wiped tables. Seems to be the case in every other Moe's I have been into. The staff, where do they get these people? They are so uninterested in their "job" and it shows in the service! Ugh! the guy that waited on us seemed to be not happy at all that we were there. He got our food - with gloves on - took our money, with the same gloves on and proceeded to go back to fixing the food but not before rubbing his nose and fingering his hair, all with the gloves on! I was waiting to see if he would serve someone with those same gloves, but someone dropped a glass bottle in the eating area and he had to clean it up, he took off his gloves to do that. He was pissed that someone dropped the glass bottle. Food was less than average. Sticking by my vow, I will never be back to a Moe's again! Any Moe's!

This was your typical strip plaza Mexican restaurant. The meals were acceptable, but nothing stood out as outstanding. It's a good place for relatively quick service which is a plus if you are under time constraints.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Chipotle came to Gastonia a few months ago. They tout healthy alternative to unhealthy foods. The food was extremely tasty. This was our 2nd visit. The first visit I would have rated an excellent. This visit rated very good because there were only 2 clean tables to choose from. They were busy but still should take the time to clean off the tables when customers leave. That was the only negative issue. The rest of the experience was quite enjoyable. Expect to pay about $9-10 per person depending on choices. A few items will be an additional charge (i.e. guacamole). For tasty Tex-Mex style cooking, try Chipotle. Enjoy!

We beat the lunch crowd and were promptly seated. We both had the Wednesday lunch special- nicely flavored chicken fajitas. Our server, Keonia, did a good job of checking on us and made sure that we had enough to drink.

On a whim, our family decided to find a Mexican restaurant that we had never tried before – due to our location and places we had to eliminate, we ended up here. The location was typical of a shopping center location – looked like many other places that I have previously been – nothing bad, just the same as many others. We were seated promptly and drinks and food order were taken promptly. Our waiter did not know the answer to a question my daughter had about a dish and did not attempt to try and find out from anyone else – just got an “I’m not sure” as a reply. We ordered cheese dip and by the time it came out, we had already eaten most of our chips from our basket – there were four chips left and our waiter did not offer to get us anymore after bringing us the cheese dip. Had to wait until he showed back up to ask for more – several minutes after receiving our cheese. My plate came with tortillas, which I can usually take or leave, so I didn’t even mention it when they did not come out with my meal. About 5 minutes later, they were brought out. Our food was fine, but again, about the same as we would get anywhere else. Our drinks were never refilled and though they are served in large glasses, two of ours were empty when the check arrived – just didn’t feel like having to ask for refills. Other than poor service, there was nothing that bad that would prevent me from returning, but nothing to make me drive past a much better Mexican choice just up the road.I really hate that we disappointed you with our service, I have always been of the opinion that there is never an excuse for bad service and for that I apologize, at the same time I want to thank you for taking the time to write about us, good or bad we appreciate it. We obviously we need to work on our training and I guarantee you we will start on that right away.Thank you again and I hope that try us again sometime.

Showed up around dinner time and had no problems being seated. Great variety of food. Burrito very nice. Also combo dinners both a good value. Service a little slow but who cares. Nice atmosphere and very nice staff. Nice touch to add free dessert bite. Would definitely return if on the area.

Azteca Family Mexican Restaurant

Reviewed By Anifer15

I've visited Azteca restaurants in Charlotte and have had good experiences though their food seems to be a little pricier than others. First off, the location of this place is not in the best area of Gastonia but we were driving by and hungry, so we thought we'd give it a try. Staff was friendly. Sanitation grade was a 95. We ordered cheese dip and it was brought out quickly, but it wasn't even hot. It was luke-warm so we asked the waiter to heat it up. I don't know how they prepare it (crock pot? stove top?) but I think he just poured a different bowl from the same mediocre batch because the second bowl was nothing different. So we asked again for them to heat it up. By this time our food had arrived, which was surprisingly piping hot. I ordered enchiladas and my boyfriend ordered tacos. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. We will go eat at any other Mexican restaurant before returning here. If you want a good Mexican place and you are in the Gastonia-Belmont area, go to Taxco!! High quality food and the cheese dip is served hot!
