Café Del Sol is just off the 5 and close to the beach with easy access on/off the Interstate. Staff was welcoming and food and plates arrived hot. The food is not authentic Mexican cuisine as we are used to but it was good Mexican as we were hungry and there was plenty of food. There was ample parking and ample table space. The only critique I would have is that this was our first time to Del Sol and were not used to how the process worked. We ordered and then sat down to relax while our food was prepared. A few other customers came in in the meantime. We then heard something, just a shout, not really sure what was said, but the second time we heard it, it dawned on us, that the staff was telling us our food was ready at the counter. We think he was saying "food up" or something like that. It was bad acoustic in the place, we were tired, and not sure how the procedure worked, but we finally got it! All in all, good food.

Generally, hole-in-the-wall Mexican eateries in San Clemente are acceptable to good. Not this one !... Stopped for breakfast and ordered 3-4 different things... Huevos , Quesadillas, Tacos. Everything looked tired and tasted weird.... The place is cheap so did not waste much money but left disappointed.

Had lunch at this location. Food is good and fresh but way too pricey. Also, any order you get does not come with salsas; you have to purchase them. Avocado? Sure they have it for purchase. 1/4 pint (which is those very small dollar coin size containers) for two bucks each! No seating inside restaurant, only outside tables.

I recently discovered this little gem in my own town! Do you want authentic Mexican food that you would find across the border in Rosarito or Puerto Nuevo? This is the place!! Their margaritas are the best in town and the street tacos are nothing but delicious! The owner is always on site and is so friendly! I'm only giving it 4 stars though because the center has limited parking and the shopping center is somewhat run down. (No fault of the owner of the restaurant!) This has now become a family favorite! We go at least 2-3x a month! Highly recommend!

The service is excellent. The menu and food are great. The Sangria is outstanding. Genuine Peruvian cuisine at a reasonable price. If you happen to meet the owner (Stavros), you will find him cordial, accommodating, and smiling!! Once you try this place you will return.

Authentic Colombian Cuisine
We arrived at the place around 6:45 PM, and it was busy. Hostess/waitress was an absolute darling, truly an ambassador for Colombia. While the staff servicing this place was beyond reproach, the food was another thing altogether. Being extremely familiar with Peruvian cuisine, somewhat Argentinian specially their quality beef, Venezuelan while living there, Colombian was yet undiscovered, and even though I had watched Andrew Zimmerman in Bogota, I had not tried their food. Chorizo, $8.95. The description said it was a Colombian pork sausage, served with an arepa (kind of like a sope, a corn dough deep fried). This chorizo lacked all the elements of a decent one. Starting with the flavor, size-like a bun size hot dog, very thin-this was just the beginning of a let down meal. The arepa was hot in temperature, but bland and tasteless. Overly prized, and undeserved. Avoid. 1.5 Stars.Colombian Empanadas, $14? A disgrace compared to the better tasting ones. Basically an arepa, stuffed with long strands of chewy pork, and not a thing more. None of the ingredients mentioned in the description, kind of like hey letâs just throw some stringy and hard to chew pork meat, with zero attributes, and serve it to this innocent trio. Arrived very crispy with some salsa/sauces, none of which would win any prizes any time soon. Overpriced, and very mediocre. 1.5 StarsPlato del Pobre, $10.95. A poor man dish, apparently, that mixed beans and rice together, with slices of boneless grilled chicken, which to be fair tasted decent. Right around this time I started thinking that this particular cuisine like Venezuelan and Mexican to some extent. 2 Stars.Colombian Tamal, $8.95 a la carte. Big tamal wrapped in banana leaf, half potato twice, extra fat carrot and big chunk of chicken and pork, respectively. This brute in size tamale version was the hardest to swallow. The dough lifeless, did they even forget the salt? Chicken and Pork average at best. Where really good tamales are concerned, they donât have to worry to be outshined by this version. We purchased two, but 50% remained. 1.5 Stars.Yet, by checking the many glowing reviews for La Colombiana, we incorrectly assumed we were in for a treat. Not at all to be. Business is good, so all I can surmise is that the enthusiasm of the reviewers are a little deceptive. Yes, we could have asked for their $20+ dishes, but I am thrilled we did not fall for it. As mentioned above, nice people working there, but the food...Ay No, Mama Mia! $60 plus with gratuity, acid reducer extra. Water surprisingly acceptable. 2 Stars.

Family dinner on a Tuesday evening. Seated quickly in a quiet booth, drinks and water served immediately with hot chips and spicy salsa. Food was good, reasonably priced, no waiting. Service was prompt, friendly. No complaints, all we expected, but nothing outstanding.
