We visited Wagamama on a Thursday evening before going off to the cinema. We knew we had limited time, but knowing the turnaround at Wagamamas is quick, we felt confident we had enough time to eat! However, on arrival we were told that waiting time was 10-15 minutes (no problem, we thought) We chose our food and sat with 3 Deliveroo drivers also waiting!! On being shown to our table we had to wait a while before a waiter came to take our order. After a further 10 minutes or so another waiter came up to apologise that the original waiters machine had broken and our order was not processed! The order was then placed and we were offered free drinks as an apology. We then had to rush our food in order to get to the cinema on time....our usually brilliant impression of Wagamamas was spoiled by this experience. The restaurant was busy (but there were still plenty of empty tables), the home delivery side was busy BUT that is not really our problem - you really do need more staff to both wait tables and cook. It must be very difficult to know how many diners you are going to get on a given evening, but it really was very poor last night!hi there, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this review. we're sorry to hear that the service was a little bit slow on your visit this time. would you mind leaving some further details here - https://www.wagamama.com/contact-us so that we are able to take a look into this? thank you

Specialising in Sushi and Sashimi, our menu contains many different dishes that will introduce you to authentic Japanese cuisine.
We were eating cooked breakfasts and larger than normal lunches so did not need a big evening meal. The option here includes choosing several smaller sized dishes, which we did. All very good with the pest being a fried aubergine with a sweet sauce.

SAKURA TEPPANYAKI RESTAURANT is the only teppanyaki restaurant in whole of hampshire and in the heart of winchester and we are serving fresh food for 5 years. teppanyaki is a unique cullinary at where highly skilled chefs prepare and cook your food right
We saw the prices on the menu before visiting and were expecting great things, but the reality is that I think you are paying for the 'show' of the live cooking. The starters of vegetable gyoza and vegetable tempura were nice. Quite pricey but in line with what I would expect. The mains however were very overpriced. We had the chicken teppanyaki which from memory was £16 or £17 and the vegetarian duck terriyaki which I think was £13 or £14. You can see why we had high expectations. Although I liked the fact they did a mock meat option for vegetarians, and the soy was well cooked, it did not taste like terriyaki sauce - it lacked the sweetness - and was a basic, very bland stir fry. The chicken dish was not much better. We had to add extra soy sauce to both the dishes. We both felt like these were bog standard stir fries. Perfectly edible, non-greasy but quite boring and certainly not worth the price tag. It was a little weird that non of the team were Japanese, of course you don't have to be Japanese to be able to cook the food but I felt like the owners have tried to jump on a Teppanyaki-money-making-trend without knowing how to cook Japanese food. The service was also very good, although it was Friday night so a little slow, the staff were always checking in and apologising without prompt, which I appreciated. However, there was a mandatory service charge on the bill, which I refused to pay - not because the service was poor but because I felt well and truly ripped off by the main meals.I think this is somewhere you go to sit around the teppanyaki chef, and for those sorts of parties it's probably a good night out, but for a normal meal with a regular kitchen cooked meal, it's not good value at all.
