Things to do in Capitola
After walking past this place weekly for years and never paying it any attention we finally stopped in for dinner, after reading the Yelp reviews. It is run by a husband/wife team. They are gracious hosts, taking time to talk to us (what we could understand :-/) and make us feel very welcome and comfortable. The place is tiny tiny and it's brightly lit so don't expect any real 'ambiance' here. Come for the service, the value and the food. All three rolls were very fresh and bite sized, which is nice. We had three rolls, a small sake, a soda, 2 house salads, a cucumber salad and a miso and it was under $28!Definitely going back, soon!

We arrived just as they were opening for early dinner, and were greeted and seated immediately. One of us had miso ramen with tofu substituted for pork. (It's a mystery why they charge extra for the substitution). The other had udon with kara age chicken, and we shared a generous bowl of edemame. Both main dishes arrived promptly and were judged to be delicious. The service was cheerful and attentive.
You might easily miss this place at the end of the Mercantile building but you will be happy if you find it! The Hawaiian style Poke is amazing. Instead Each $15 bowl is filled with your choice of 3 types of fresh fish or tofu atop your choice of brown rice quinoa ,mixed greens or yam noodles and topped with your choice if sauce and toppings! Our bowl had salmon and ahi atop a combo of brown nutty rice and yam noodles. Brooke , the owner, suggested the spicy vegan mayo which was so yummy you could just eat that! We topped our bowl with avocado, ginger, furikake, cucumber and jalapeños! Super delicious! There are slot of places to eat In Capitola Village but you will feel healthy and satisfied after this bowl of goodness! We will be back!

We came here for dinner. I've only gone during their lunch special, but their dinner is equally good. Their cali roll is probably one of the best I've ever eaten. It was so fresh and their teriyaki chicken was grilled with a nice sauce, but into small thing pieces. We really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered and next time we'll just go for sushi. A small restaurant, but they fit a lot of people in there.

Takara is located in Capitola shopping mall on the south side, decent size restaurant and usually a small wait for dinner. They have a large Sushi selection, which is what we went for an ordered, so not able to comment on the regular dinner menu. We tried several different Sushi selections, and they all were very good, and majority were reasonably priced. The service was pretty good and attentive, as well as friendly, overall were were very satisfied and will go back again, when in the area.

We tend to visit at least one sushi restaurant wherever we travel since my wife is a sushi fanatic. Nice large pieces of fresh fish and BIG rolls. They don't press the rolls tight, like most sushi places, which may be part of the reason they look so large and tend to fall apart, but they are very good. This is a real "mom and pop" restaurant with no fancy décor, just good food. Prices are reasonable by sushi standards. Definitely worth visiting.

This is our favorite sushi restaurant. We always enjoy their specialty rolls, they're a little pricey but well worth it. My favorite is their organic mixed greens salad. I love to support this restaurant because of the fact that they support the fish that is on Monterey's Fish Watch list.

Went with a friend to check it out for a group that gathers frequently for lunch. We were not disappointed. This is a charming restaurant in an excellent location close to Capitola Village. It also has decent parking - challenge in the Village. Both of us had the Bento Box lunches. Good choices and reasonably priced. The gyoza was tasty and the sashimi was delectably fresh. I was a little disappointed they charged me extra for brown rice. The service was pleasant and attentive. I will return again and feel this is a good bargain.
