As a family of five we ate here mid week and the food was very good for both adults and children alike.Complimentary snacks are given at the start and the deserts gap for the children were just what was needed. My only concern was the Speed of service, it was nearly 2 hours from start to finish which was a shame. This may be a one off but worth keeping in mind.We would though return.

While we did not have muscles elsewhere on Noirmoutier, so in that regard there is nothing else to compare the ones we had here to other local establishments, we have eaten muscles in many, many different locations and styles over time and these were some of the best ever. Not large, they were tender, tasty, and accompanied (of course) with frites. The size of the serving was more than ample, they house wine was very inexpensive, water was served without asking, and the service --- even at a peak time --- was efficient. Rather than going the muscles route, however, I opted for the Croque-Monsieur --- and it, too, was one of the best Iâve ever had. Everything about it was just as it should have been with one slight exception that my wife pointed out: the sandwich bread was of a brioche-type, and it was excellent. With tables inside and out, it affords a location for good dining and people watching at the same time. Itâs family-friendly and while not overly large, is able to accommodate larger families inside with an little rearranging of tables.Overall a very pleasant dining experience and one we can easily recommend.

This pizza restaurant has a wood-fired oven and lies between the main part of town and the Bois de la Chaise - within walking distance of both. It is spacious, nicely decorated and has a big garden-terrace out the back. The pizzas were the most delicious that we'd eaten for a long while. The quality of the Italian flour used is of the best and the topping ingredients are imaginative and harmonious. There are more substantial dishes and original salads on the carte. Prices are very reasonable.

We chose L'Auberge de Cesar in part because of positive comments from French visitors. L'Ile de Nourmoutiere is a major tourist destination, well worth seeing in its own right, and this restaurant is situated at the northwestern tip of the island with a nice view of the harbor. We are always somewhat wary of restaurants serving primarily a transient population, as they don't have the same incentive to maintain quality as restaurants with a large number of "regulars", but L'Auberge doesn't fall into the tourist trap category. My mussels and frites were very good - the frites among the best ever, crisp outside and mealy inside, slightly thicker than usual - and my husband enjoyed his vegetarian pizza. There's a nice small wine list, too, with reasonable prices. Service was prompt and friendly and would have been just fine for non French speakers. We would definitely return.

Restaurant pizzeria More than 10 years of existence, the restaurant welcomes you in April until November. Open every day during the school holidays. Service late, nevertheless we advise you to reserve your menus or your table. 3 Terraces including 1 on th
On a hot day in August we were shown to our table here by a 10 year old boy.Presumably his younger brother was running the kitchen. Our order was forgotten for 45 minutes. We were gasping for drinks and completely ignored despite desperate waving. When I finally stood up and found a child to complain to we finally got some warm tap water and some sloppily presented "Salades Paysanne" that Buffalo Grill wouldn't have dared serve. No self respecting French peasant would have recognised it. Let alone put it in their mouth. A disgrace.Kid's pizzas were just OK. My wife's plate of moules frites was unspeakable. Here in Barbatre you'd think you can't go wrong with Mussels, they are harvested about 200 metres away. These tasted like they'd been shipped from somewhere far away. And the frites. Mon Dieu. I've found better on the seat of my van the day after the kids have had a Burger King. Jesus. Just awful, reheated, lifeless, tasteless, like eating cold salty cardboard. Outrageous, here in France, the home of the frite. Like being given a cup of tepid Nescafe in Brazil. I've eaten way better French meals in South London. Total bill was 60 euros , there's a Super U nearby, we could have eaten better in their car park for 6 Euros. And had a better time.Avoid at all costs.@Clk1969, Merci pour votre visite. Nous vous conseillons de réserver votre table afin de limite l'attente. Par ailleurs, notre carte est composée de produits locaux (maraîchins du coin). Having decided we wanted a simple meal off we went into the town of Noirmouter-en-l'ille, and after a failed attempt to get a drink down the road (ignored by staff), we came across this little gem.The staff were very welcoming, attentive without being in your face and efficient. It was not the warmest evening and one member of staff was always around to make sure the door was kept closed - not much but much needed.OK, onto the food, we had decided on pizza, there was a good range, and the 2 that we had were spectacular (if you see my other reviews you know i like pizza). Smoked duck on a pizza is a bit different but very nice. Pudding was also very nice, again the staff were happy to leave us to have a rat between courses, he kept an eye on us, and was straight over when we ready to order - and it was not empty. All at reasonable price, can not praise the staff enough.
