The municipality comprises the towns of Hamme proper, Kastel Moerzeke, St-Anna and Zogge. On March 18, 2010, Hamme had a total population of 24,026. The total area is 40.21 km² which gives a population density of 578 inhabitants per km². The current mayor of Hamme is Herman Vijt, from the CD&V (Christian Democratic) party.

La Piazza is a small restaurant You might walk past easily, situated in front of a church. It's not huge, so it is advised to make reservations. This is home made italian food at its best was the general opinion after our dinner there on a freezing January day. The restaurant serves pizza, pasta, and more elaborate dishes. None of us tried pizza, but we all liked what we had on our plate; including the desserts (tiramisu with speculoos). The house wine was more than ok, and we appreciated the gentle service, and a very reasonable bill. After our visit, we wondered why we hadn't discovered it earlier on!The restaurant is located in front of a church in the center of town, has a modern interior with an open kitchen. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, otherwise open for lunch 12-14, and dinner 18-22h.

On my second visit, I chose the menu surprise of the evening. What a treat. 4 small plates of fish, meat and dessert courses. Flavours just amazing.A must try is the house cocktail of white port and lemon topped off with tonic.Service was immaculate and overall experience was excellent.

We went there on a Tuesday after having made reservations. It's situated in a mansion overseeing the square with a nice view. The food was excellent as well as the service.Would definitely dine there again. Especially in the summer

This restaurant is a real Italian Gem disposing of a friendly service an an authentic Italian atmosphere. The pizza is delicious , the service is perfect and you get the impression to be in Italy. As I am frequently in the region , I certainly will visit this restaurant again and recommend it to everyone who have a preference for Italian Gastronomy

We aten er zeer lekkere pasta's met ons gezin. Medium versie volstond meer dan genoeg. Super vriendelijke bediening. Lekkere desserts. Enige nadeel: terras is dicht bij de zeer drukke Europalaan.

Ik at er een basis pizza(ham, ansjovis, champignons): was betaalbaar en lekker, maar bord Was niet heet genoeg voorverwarmd waardoor laatste stukken pizza lauw waren.Vond het eerder aan de koude kant(buiten slechts 10 graden), dus verwarming graag opzetten. Vonden het niet de moeite om theelichtjes aan te steken. Interieur is heel basic en niet super gezellige zaak. Leuke achtergrondmuziek werd deels overstemd door geluid van televisietoestel in keuken van restaurant waarop voetbalmatch uitgezonden werd en door iemand van personeel die zat te kijken en luid commentaar gaf.Serveuse was wel vriendelijk.De witte en rode huiswijn was lekker maar niet top.Kregen na eten wel gratis klein glaasje limoncelli of amaretto.Al leukere Italiaanse restaurants meegemaakt.
