We came because of the recommendation of friends. Its deco is good, luxury, eye stunning, open bar & kitchen and nice color combination. Its food is ok, after tasting a big variety with pass around style. We had lamb, fish, pizza and lobster pasta as main dishes and we tried soup, salad & tiramisu and ice cream. It is not bad but in average. The service wasnât up to our expectation. This restaurant is quintessentially one of the best Italian restaurants in Beijing. Their attention to detail and quality is unmatched. The ambience is reminiscent of a luxurious opera. Youâre surrounded by original paintings depicting Marilyn Monroe. The Truffled Chilean Cod is extraordinarily succulent and smooth. Itâs smothered with delectable and ample slices of Truffle not tiny amounts that if youâd blow on the dish theyâd disappear. The chef will meticulously slice half a Truffle on the dish as you watch by your table. This is proper degustation as it should be. NOT bird food pounded off as Michelin quality. This is what Michelin restaurants aspire to be. The Hokkaido Lobster Linguine in Japanese Sea Urchin is an absolute marvel. Tasty is an understatement. The pasta is AL DENTE period NOT undercooked and passed off as Al DENTE as youâre apt to find in Michelin restaurants. If you want proper Italian food with an exquisite ambience then this IS the place. Itâs pricey but WORTH every penny. The staff is unpretentious, professional, courteous, and aim to please. A testament to their manager and the ultra luxurious hotel within which it finds itself. A trip to Beijing must and should include at least one visit to this fine restaurant. Tonight I ate at Pretoria for my 4th time in three weeks. The food was brilliantly executed by the chef, Antonio. Unfortunately, the service level is what you expect from a cafeteria. This is a rare situation in which the food is consistently excellent and the service is consistently quite poor. The waitstaff appears to be untrained. They are not unpleasant, but donât seem to really understand what they need to do to offer a good dining experience. From the long wait for a drink, the very miserly wine pour or the necessity to wave someone down to get the check at the end, the service was consistently poor.It is a shame that a restaurant that produces truly fine food from the kitchen could be so completely undermined but untrained, inattentive and indifferent waitstaff. Even though I am staying at the hotel, I wonât be trying this place- despite the fabulous foodâ for quite some time.

We were a group of 8 people we went for dinner and it was easy to make a table for all 8 of us , the atmosphere was good , the service very good and the food was authentic Italian taste and very delicious with a good variety of good Italian wines, the owner was from Italy and was very nice and friendly person we liked everything and we will be back next time in Beijing :)

Mercante has a cool location in a buzzy Hutong.The setting inside is a homely Italian restaurant.Very friendly service and great, fresh food.Reasonably priced, and accepts foreign issued credit cards.Mercante is a 5 minute stroll to the nearby lake and bars.A great find In Beijing

We had lunch at Fratelli Fresh, an Italian restaurant located in the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel. The restaurant is part Restaurant and part wine bar. It's a beautiful and luxurious place, ideal for s romantic lunch or dinner. The lighting is subdued. A wall of wine bins line the window wall facing into the hotel. The tables have plenty of space between them. This is good for business meetings.They start you off with several types of bread along with olive oil/balsamic vinegar for dipping. This was quite good.My wife and I went for pasta. She had a seafood risotto, which had several different types of shellfish. I had a spaghetti dish with shrimp and asparagus. Both were excellent.Service was attentive. They also have several multi course menus or mixed grill type dishes we would like to try.The wine list focused on Italian wines, many by the glass, but they had some of the Italian classics on the list too. I think I saw Brunello di Montalcino and Sassacia on the list.Are there negatives? We tried it once before and thought perhaps the subtle lighting was too subtle, having difficulty reading the menu. That wasn't s problem this time.We liked the pasta dishes. If you are looking for a western fine dining experience in Beijing check this place out. I just had a tasting meal perfectly cooked and brilliantly presented. Benjamin enhances the experience with flawless service. My suggestion is to sit back and let David drive on exquisite wines to pair with the menu. His knowledge of wine is both amazing and approachable. Just trust him to select the perfect wines to go with your meal. Extraordinary.

An early evening dining solo at Il Ristorante Niko Romito was an epicurean excursion. The restaurant is unbridled luxury, with exquisite Venetian hand blown drinking glasses and unmatched service. My waiter Pubble was AMAZING...attentive, friendly, and super knowledgeable. Brought the chef to my table to explain the mouth watering dishes, starting with a broth reduction with incredible depth to clean the palate, a bright salad, an unusually prepared, rich lasagna, and the tiramisu many rave about paired with limoncello. Though I was sitting in Beijing, my senses were in Italy.
