Find out what International restaurants to try in Mdina. Graceful Mdina, the stately town known as the Silent City, holds court from the southwest corner of the captivating island of Malta. The commanding medieval Old City perches on its rocky promontory, its fortified bastions looming above the azure waters of the Mediterranean. This enchanting Maltese city offers a warren of narrow streets, populated by churches, palaces and gracious houses, punctuated by large squares and delightfully free of cars in its UNESCO-designated ancient quarters.

What can I say. This has to be one of the best meals we have ever had. We only discovered this restaurant as we got off the bus at the wrong stop but what a surprise. We shared a starter - jackfish - which was ample for 2 of us, and then both chose beef cheeks for mains. We are still salivating at the memory. It was just phenomenal! Shared a dessert which was also delicious. Lovely ambience and friendly staff combined with amazing food. Our only disappointment was that we didn't have time to visit again before we left as we were only visiting Malta for a short break. If we return this will be our first port of call.

Our stay at Melitte in Mdina was the highlight of our three week holiday in Malta. Being in the building was like being a part of the Silent City's history. Over 500 years old, it was still welcoming and comfortable - very much due to Philippe the wonderful host. Yes it is a very narrow stone spiral staircase up to the room but, despite my husband's knee post op, we found it surprisingly easy to negotiate. The room was so comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. As soon as you walk in the door from the street you know you are in a special place which you have more or less to yourself as there is only one guest room. We were also pleasingly conscious of the envious stares of passing tourists as we opened the door into one of the intriguing buildings in the city. Being able to wonder round the narrow atmospheric streets in the evening when the tour groups etc have gone was magical. In fact our whole stay was magical - thank you Philippe!

Beautiful place, lovely atmosphere, quality pizzas Italian standard. Well-kept garden in a historic courtyard with an old well and a typical Maltese exterior. Friendly and smiling staff, and the food arrived promptly. A little bit doesn’t reach for a full five points. Owners know what the speech is about, I guess.

Place is very welcoming and nicely decorated with bottles of wine all over the place, gives it a romantic feel. You are welcomed with nice free appetizers which are delicious. As main course we had salmon and lamb shank which were both perfectly cooked and portions are big! my partner had traditional mqaret which were delicious too! The staff are all polite and nice! big well done! this place is worth every cent!Thank You from Dino and Meraki Team for nice Review.

While being on holiday, we always try to find an extraordinary venue for dinner. So this year we discovered The Lord Nelson Restaurant in Mosta. We call this a hidden gem! Located a few minutes from the Mosta Dome - you can literaly see the Dome from your table in the restaurant - this restaurant houses in an old charming townvouse with a lot of history. We booked a table and at our arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome. Of course this restaurant is not on a ‘hot spot’ location but.... once inside one discovers a superb, elegant and very nice fine dining restaurant. Talking about fine dining we went for the tasting menu with pairing wines and the whole menu including wines exceeded our expectations by far!!!! Every dish was a through masterpiece not only for the taste but also the eyes! We let the head chef choose for the ‘surprise’ tasting menu ... 3 starters, 2 mains and a dessert... we can only say that this was a real culinary evening with fine dining at its best!! Thank you chef Vella and your team, thanks for the staff, he was attentive, professional and friendly and last but not least thanks to the patron Mr Etienne for running such an excellent restaurant! We recommend everyone who has the chance to have dinner in Mosta to go this ‘hidden gem’! Regards from Belgium - Peter

My pilgrimage to Malta would never be the same without my date at this place. An evening stroll through the gently lit streets of this beautiful mini-city followed by walking into this historical restaurant, glass roofed, intimate and charming. The menu is well stocked with local specialities of course including rabbit and extensive local wine list. I had a light dinner as it was my last night in the country. Only foody criticism I should offer is the fruit gels in the ice cream...hmmm(?) All was super although getting the right member of staff to serve you is important otherwise its a little agitating....I'll be back, as someone slightly more famous than I once said......Thank you for taking your time to post a review on TripAdvisorWe are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your last night in Malta in our restaurant!Your kind words have been warmly received and we hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again very soon! Many thanks and kind regards.

The staff were fantastic and made us all feel comfortable. The drinks and canapes were great. I can't speak highly enough of this place!
