Reviews on International food in El Hierro, Spain. The volcanic island El Hierro has evolved from an ancient civilization to a prime (yet still pristine) destination for elite divers and beach lovers who crave remote beauty. The waters are calm and brimming with unusual sea life, while aboveground the landscape is peppered with ancient and twisted trees. Explore the lovely villages and hilly stone-laid paths on foot, then feast on rustic meals of fresh fish, local cheeses and wild herbs.

The small friendly place across the square from the church in Frontera. It seems very popular with locals as almost all tables are taken every evening. Canary potatoes with sauces are really good and all seafood we tried was prepared fresh in less than 20 minutes. If there ask for guava juice, one of the best we ever had. At the end we had cake as a gift from the owner. I must note the attention owners pay to small details which add more charm to the establishment and create homely feeling.

My husband and I have been visiting various restaurants in El Hierro for an authentic gastronomic experience, and let me tell you, Restaurante Guanche is one of THE places to visit on this precious island. Hubby and I were welcomed by a super friendly waiter who immediately informed us about the dishes of the day, Caldo de queso (Cheese soup) and Carne de Cabra (Goat)...this was actually exactly what we were looking for!!!! SNAP! Friendly waiter dude offered us a variety of local wines but recommended the house wine Vino de Pata, which was particularly strong and good...we went with his suggestion.Mannnnnnn what a feast! When first tasting the Vino de Pata it's a slightly odd flavour, yet comforting...don't be deterred, this wine pairs scarily well with all the food in this review. Keep in mind that we only ordered 500ml of this wine because of its super high alcohol content for a red wine...about 20 percent according to the waiter..bottoms up i say. Right, this Caldo de queso was flavorsome and the epitome of winter food, it warmed my bones! Then the star of the dinner was presented...Carbe de Cabra! the GOAT! this was the softest tastiest meat I've eaten in a long time, served with papas (potatoes). This was quality meat, expertly prepared. The meat fell off the bone and the portion was big enough to ask for a doggy bag (btw my hubby gobbled up his portion with no fuss). And let me tell you, that Vino de Pata cut through the richness of the goat meat beautifully. Absolutely delicious! WHY DOESNT THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAVE MORE REVIEWS?We thought the meal was over when hubby suggested we try out some home made dessert...the tres leches (three milks) - this was a type of sponge cake soaked in a sweet milk, covered in a condense milk and topped with evaporated milk foam...not an option for the lactose intolerant but gentle jebis for the rest of us, this was HEAVEN! We left very satisfied! The bill was very, no BEYOND reasonable, it was incredibly worth it! The waiter didnt speak any English so go prepared with the Spanish words. You will not regret it. You pay for the bread and mojo (60c a portion) - the waiter kindly informed us of this prior to bringing it to the table...we've had bad experiences in the past where bread is placed on your table and it charged to your bill without your knowledge. This is not the case here, we accepted the extra charge happily. This is really a worthwhile eating experience.

The restaurant is open monday to saturday only for dinner. Reservation is not required but preferred.
Went there twice during our stay in Frontera, and both times the food was excellent and cooked with love and the tasteful interior deco makes it all taste even better! We can highly recommend this restaurant!

A taste of local cuisine, fresh seafood and plenty of international choices in a relaxing and magic atmosphere: in the cozy charmy restaurant hall or on the stunning terrace. Great food and a wonderful view!
Stopped at this beautiful spot for lunch and we were delighted. The setting is magnificent with crashing waves. We shared a lovely duck and pear salad and then ordered the prawn paella. One of the best weâve had. After the complimentary coffee granita we ordered two puddings - local pineapple with pineapple gel and pineapple foam plus delicious chocolate mouse with white chocolate slices. All absolutely yummy and the best meal weâve had in the Canary Islands. The staff were excellent and next time we hope to stay in the tiny hotel and enjoy dinner in the restaurant.

It is a nice place where to stay and eat 'non-typical' food, that is food that is not common to find on the island. The food is delicious and the people running the place are super-kind and helpful: always with a smile on their faces (meaning not only in the mouth but in their eyes as well!). Do not forget to make a reservation since the place is usually full.D. ManuelGracias por vuestra reseña y vuestra visita. Estamos para servirles.
