Kipalo Hills and it's eight rooms enjoy extensive views across Tsavo to the Ngulia Mountains and Mt Kilimanjaro in the distance. It is situated in the private 12,000 acre Mbulia Conservancy directly bordering the stunning Tsavo West National Park with easy access to Tsavo East National Park as well. Mbulia Conservancy is an important dry season dispersal area for elephant and other wildlife including buffalo, African wild dog and cheetah. It is a fabulous birding area and there are many fun activities to enjoy from bush walking and game driving to fly-camping in the Tsavo National Parks.
We stayed here for two days while exploring Tsavo East and West. It was absolutely incredible! After our long drive from Nairobi, we were met with cool towels soaked in eucalyptus oil to clean our hands and faces. My husband and I were the only ones at the camp for both days, so we essentially had a personal staff that saw to our every need. We had the big suite camp with an amazing view of Tsavo West, a king size bed, and a shower and open air bathroom. Daniel the chef attended to our every need, preparing a personalized menu for us when we were ready to eat. Mustafa was also amazing, making sure we always had a full glass of wine and were comfortable. After safaris in Tsavo East and West (where we came up close to elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and a whole host of other animals), Mustafa would arrange the bean bag chairs for us on the cliff overlooking Tsavo West, pour us a sundowner glass of wine, and bring us a snack to enjoy while we watched the sunset. On our second night there, they placed our dinner table on the patio overlooking a watering hole so that we could watch the elephants drink while eating. This place is amazing. I can’t even begin to describe how welcomed and at home we felt here. Totally worth visiting.

We had stayed at Man Eaters camp back in 2011 and we wanted to return their with our children. What a wonderful surprise...they have upgraded their pool, their rooms, the property is really well kept and the wonderful terrace overlooking the Tsavo River is just breathtaking. Festus and his team are incredible. They did everything possible to make our halt special. The welcome drink, serving us dinner riverside, very hearty and well prepared food including some special meals for our son who has food allergies...they did it all. Our waitress Rosemary was exceptional with serving food promptly, Patrick the chef was made the best eggrolls ever not to mention our other meals and dessert and Nicodemus the security guard always took care of us, making sure we were always escorted to our tents. The tents are very spacious, clean and with a wonderful balcony looking onto the Tsavo river. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and make for a great night or two of rest and relaxation. The camp is only about 7km to the Manyani Gate entrance of Tsavo East and from there about 2-3 hours to the Sala Gate between Malindi and Watamu. The price point for the camp is also very affordable. I highly recommend a night or two here as you make your way to or back from the Coast. There is also a little museum on sight with articles and photos and history about the man eating lions of Tsavo East.

The 4 cottages are located on the Lions Bluff Kopje. Each is equipped with a double and single bed – complete with bedding, hot and cold showers, a lovely terrace overlooking the stunning Conservancy with endless views of the Savannah and mountains in the distance. A large, common dining area & fully functional kitchen, public toilet is also available. Most of our guests enjoy our delicious FULL board accommodation though. Chef Philip takes great pride in his home cooked pastas, marinated steak and chicken lasagna as well as vegan and vegetarian meals. Leopards Lair is fully staffed to take care of all your needs during your stay and is ideal for families or groups of friends. Bookings can be made on self-catering basis, full board accommodation or game package or exclusive use of the entire place. For those that opt for a game package, our team will help you plan your exciting activities, over the duration of your stay. Dine under the stars or indoors ! Our fire place is simply great to hang out and tell stories and to soak up the atmosphere of being out in the bush with the wilderness below !

Nicely located in a park full of baboons! Beautiful! Good food and friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and nice but lack a cosy atmosphere. In many details one can feel that the best days of the lodge are gone, maybe also because its now part of a big chain "Mada". But still good for one night!

Lake Jipe Resort is situated near to the beautiful Lake Jipe (not quite walking distance). We were met by their friendly staff with a cold juice which was much appreciated after a long journey! The room was basic but the bed was outstanding- very spacious and comfortable. There are lots of nice seating areas and the swimming pool is well kept and clean. The staff are accommodating and happy to organise boat trips on the lake and game drives etc. It is worth noting that on the game drive they organised for us through the wild and rugged Tsavo we did encounter some problems with the vehicle. On the whole they dealt with the situation well.
