Located on South Carolina's beautiful Grand Strand, Pawley's Island is the laid back alternative to the Myrtle Beach vacation. Shopping, dining, or golfing is all within reach. Just south of Myrtle Beach, Pawley's Island is best known for the Hammock Shops, a unique shopping experience of quaint small shops nestled under trees full of Spanish Moss. You can find everything from shoes to local artwork, or you might choose to go golfing on one of the many world-class golf courses in the area. While Pawley's is quieter and more relaxed than nearby Myrtle Beach, the latter's close proximity provides infinite possibilities for dining and nightlife. Murrell's Inlet, a quaint fishing village, and its bevy of seafood restaurants is just up the road and also has a Salt Marsh Preserve. Simple but delicious hamburgers at the River City cafe or finer dining at one of the hundreds of other restaurants are all within short driving distance. After dinner you might seek out one of the many venues for arts and entertainment. The Carolina Opry is well known for its amazing shows. You can see a live show or dance the night away…or both! Enjoying the beach is the obvious activity but there is so much more to do than just that. Parasailing is a popular option, as is a visit to the Huntington State Park to explore the local flora and fauna. The park has many programs to entertain and enlighten both the young and old. On the grounds is Atalaya, the home of the artist Anna Hyatt Huntington. Just across the street is Brookgreen Gardens which features many of the sculptures of the artist as well as the lovely manicured gardens.

The Planters Inn located in Savannah's historic district features traditional accommodations with Southern hospitality and modern amenities.
So there were some good points and some bad points; Thankfully our room wasn’t out dated like most rooms are. We were in the tower, room 331. The room itself was nice but not really clean. The bathroom had hairs everywhere, the tub/shower was two toned due to the build up body oil. Toilet paper holder- broken, only had 1/4 toilet paper. The floors throughout were sandy, dirty & sticky. Balled up toilet paper under the bed- yuck! Sheets were super thick and HOT. The “free” breakfast, isn’t free- you pay for it when you pay your tourist fee. The breakfast was in some kind of banquet room upstairs with a few folding tables. Breakfast was hot bottled OJ & water, apple/banana whole fruit, bagel/toast, microwaved breakfast sandwich and tiny boxes of cereal with milk from the gallon. The on-site restaurant was wonderful, the food and drinks were great. Loved sitting outside relaxing having dinner. One thing to be aware of: at check in they said if we needed housekeeping to let them know a day in advance. Well, we were only there for three nights so we didn’t request it. When we checked out they wouldn’t print our receipt, said they had to email it. As soon as I got the email I saw we were charged for housekeeping each night we were there. I called, emailed them and finally hours later got a response. They said that we are charged regardless if we requested it or not because the fee is used to get the unit ready for the next person! This place is ridiculous.

Excellent hotel in my opinion. I’m a travel nurse and have stayed in a variety of hotels in the area. This Hampton has been my favorite so far. The hotel is clean (I’m not afraid to walk around the room without socks on). The breakfast has been the best one yet for a hotel breakfast. It’s a quiet hotel and it’s in a really cute area of town. There are golf cart paths and I was able to take a nice walk down the path. The gym in the hotel has been great. There are also several restaurants within walking distance. I’ll definitely be back.

I would give this hotel a zero if I could! The pictures look so much better than the actual hotel. Our room was so humid our sheets, pillows, and clothing were all wet. It smells like mold! There was lipstick that wasn’t cleaned off the mirror, handprints on the glass shower door, and the floors were uneven/mushy. The floor of the shower was filthy and our feet were black from walking around in the room. Avoid this place at all costs! It’s disgusting!

We were in an end room and heard both doors slamming ALL NIGHT LONG. It kept us up all night. Luckily our son slept through it. We ran out of hot water twice. The coffee maker made a huge mess when we tried to used it. The front desk employee had her friends and family in the hotel pool for a party so no one else could go out there.

I stayed in a room in Seaside Inn on May 6/7 2022. ~$185 per night, so I'm thinking it's gonna be nice. I walked in and it immediately felt like I was at a discount motel on the side of the highway on I95, in 1972. The sell implies seaside....the only water near it is the toilet. The beds were as cheap and uncomfortable as it gets. My iPad is bigger than the tiny TV in the credenza. The furniture is crappy 1970s. Litchfield hasn't updated these rooms in 10+ years, and if you have $185 per night to spend and are expecting upper level accommodations, don't go here. (How disappointing was it overall? I am in my 50s and this is the 1st online review I have ever done in my life).

Some friends and I went to Myrtle Beach in mid-February 2022. We played at 4 courses; Pawley's was the last course we played. We arrived on time, and hit at the range. We went out on time, and all was going well. The marshal told us that as much as we'd like 1-9, we'd love 10-18 because of the unique holes and the closeness to the ocean. We saw the marshal a few times, and at the beginning of the 5th hole, he told us that no one was behind us; in fact, the next scheduled tee time was 1230. Since it was our last day, and out last course, we slowed down a bit and really enjoyed the rest of the first 9. We came off the 9th green around 1215 and were immediately greeted by the same marshal. He told us that we needed to be off the number 10 green no later than 1230 because there was a "shotgun start" beginning at that time. We hurriedly went into the Pro Shop for a break and to grab a few drinks (the drink cart never appeared on the first 9), and then went to the 10th tee, where the marshal watched us tee off. We finished 10 then moved to 11, under the watchful eyes of the same marshal. We were playing very quickly, and as we went down 11 (time was about 1235) all of a sudden there was a group of people behind us, hitting down the course. There was no "shotgun", they were just there. By 13, they had caught up to us, driving up as we hit off the tee. As we finished 13 and walked off the green, they hit to the green and as we were writing our scores down, one of them said, "Get moving." The rest of that side went the same exact way. We played very quickly, and had a very unenjoyable time because of it. We considered letting them play through, but had no idea how many other groups were behind them. We never saw the marshal, there was no one managing play, just the people behind us, right on us for the rest of play. After 18, one of our group went into the shop and the "pro's" attitude essentially was, "who cares?" Only when a second person went in did the person behind the counter offer anything, in this case "a free 9 holes" the next time we were there. An apology was never offered, and there was no indication anyone was sorry for anything. The first 9 was great. The much-lauded back 9 was not enjoyable at all. We've talked about another trip, and if we return to MB, we will not return to Pawley's.
