New Lanark World Heritage Site is a truly unique setting. Surrounded by native woodlands and close to the famous Falls of Clyde, New Lanark was founded in 1785 as a cotton spinning village and became famous as the site of Robert Owen's pioneering social reforms. Now beautifully restored, New Lanark is both a living community and tourist attraction. the 4 Star New Lanark Mill Hotel is a stunning award winning conversion from an original 18th century mill. It offers fantastic views across the surrounding conservation area and River Clyde
The location is incredible could sit and watch the river all day. Explored the loop walk around the river, the waterfalls are not to be missed. The room was lovely and comfortable although beds are very squeaky!! Breakfast and dinner were very good lots of choice and good fresh ingredients. Will definitely return Couple of issues with service, seems they’ve recently had quite a few new staff, all in all a very enjoyable mini break

We visited Station House whilst riding the Second City Divide. The route goes right past their door at around 48 miles in. We received a very warm welcome and the room was perfect. Lovely breakfast in the morning including a warm bowl of porridge to set us up for the day ahead.

A totally magical experience! Went on the Scottish Castles Trail Ride and it was absolutely gorgeous — all rolling hills and shimmering heather and countryside views. The staff were amazing, super helpful for a novice rider like me, and so were the horses (so beautiful!). Would definitely recommend!

A wonderful place to stay for a quiet time even though it was only for one night. If you like horses you will enjoy the surroundings and the staff are very polite and helpful. Our room was cleaned and tidy and all rooms are named after race courses. Breakfast was plentiful and a wonderful selection. We took a walk and enjoyed the work going on with horse riders.

We were amazed to find our own lounge with many drinks, fruits and biscuits as well as our own well appointed bathroom and bedroom. The breakfast choice was incredible and beautifully cooked and served. In fact we didn't eat anything else until light evening snack! The bed was very comfy but lower than usual and could just be difficult for someone with mobility issues. Margaret was very welcoming and a great conversationalists, especially about sharing travel experiences.

Stayed one night as a stop off on route to elsewhere. An interesting place, well worth WH status. But too many clashing interests here, and it was definitely not the ambience I expected. I have stayed in many excellent hostels - changing own bedding, cooking etc, is no problem. The building is well conserved on the outside, but the inside feels like an institution - walls and carpets are dirty and there was a suspicious brown matter on our wall - chocolate, we hope! The soap dispenser was lying in the sink, next to a warning sign that said the water wasn't for drinking - worrying. The kitchen was very smelly - the windows should have been opened - we did this and it helped a bit. When I pointed this out, a staff member said they couldn't open the windows because of spiders, which are unhygienic... (no, I don't think so ??). Anyway, we cooked and waited for nose blindness to set in - there was no tin opener, weird for a hostel kitchen. The receptionist brought me one from her own kitchen - but it didn't work. Then the noise started - a wedding at the hotel, with banging disco music that filled the whole site. I felt for the people that live there all the year round. It finished at 12 midnight, so only 4 hours to go. The internal fit-out is so cheap and shoddy that the room we were in rattled every time someone on the floor beneath closed their door. Paper thin duvets and pillows, so I took some cushions from downstairs - no bedside lights, thank goodness we had headtorches.

Exceptional hosts, outstanding accommodation. Clean, comfortable and finished to a high standard. A breakfast that had my taste buds popping excited for the next one. Lesley and John, thank you for making my first visit to Scotland memorable.
