Reviewed By juliannec9586Gerardo at the Sonesta, Emeryville has gone above and beyond to serve my husband and me. We came through California to deal with my father's estate. So not a fun trip at all. But we knew that every night except for Sunday and Monday he would be there. He even remembered when I said what my favorite wine was. He went above and beyond each day to make sure that we came back and were relaxed. He has a amazingly fun personality and was really amazing!!!!! We looked forward to coming back to have dinner and a drink with him each night!!! 11/10 would recommend!!!! We would come back just for him!!!!

Reviewed By anonyous2021Rooms are only cleaned after check-out or 5 days, whichever comes first. After multiple stays by various guests, the dirt builds up in the room. Watch out for BED BUGS and very dirty rooms. UNSANITARY! Hotel won't clean rooms in order to save money but still very expensive.

Front desk staff was helpful, and we appreciated that they had extra towels and toilet paper behind the front desk so that we wouldn’t have to wait for someone to deliver this to our room. Beds in our 7th floor room was surprisingly firm. Most hotels have worn soft beds. Bathroom is well designed considering it’s a small space. Bright lights and white walls with a modern shower reminds me of a deluxe cruise ship bathroom. Mini microwave in the room is a nice plus because the Trader Jo’s is right across the street. Free parking is a definite plus. And lobby area feels like a mini living room. At night, you need your hotel key to walk through the front entrance sliding doors as well as tap key to access elevator — great double security feature which I appreciated! And housekeeping staff were genuinely helpful and friendly.

It is a cheap place but alright to just spend the night. Seemed clean enough.
Reviewed By Gene FJust needed a place to crash before catching the Amtrak Coast Starlight the next morning. In kind of a rundown area but close to the Amtrak Station in Emeryville. Very small room with microwave and frig. No coffee. No where close to eat if you are using Lyft for transportation. Queen size bed that was not very comfortable but it worked for what we needed. Lyft fare from Oakland Airport to motel and then to train station the next morning was total of $26 plus tips. Lyft driver stopped at Burger King so we could get some breakfast. If I was doing it again I would probably try to find another place.

Reviewed By Str8QueenAJI'm a bay area native and I should've known better. As soon as I walked in the door, I did an about-face and almost tripped trying to get out of there. I'd rather sleep in my car in the parking lot of 24 hour fast food chain. I'd rather not sleep. No way in hell will I make the mistake of getting a room here. The room's smell of ashtray, and other smells I don't want to try and identify overwhelmed me, the peeling and scratched paint, the 70's decor (or should I say hand-me-downs decor) and just the overall feel that this hotel was for pimps and prostitutes made me not want to touch NOTHING. UHG! If they had a negative rating.... I'd give them the highest negative number I could.
