You need to see it to believe it - Cradle Mountain is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Discovery Parks – Cradle Mountain is set on the edge of world-heritage listed Cradle Mountain Lake St. Clair National Park, so a true wilderness experience is on the doorstep of your cabin or caravan. The famous Overland Track starts here, covering 161,000 hectares. There are guided and non-guided walks for all fitness levels, canoe tours, horseback trail rides and helicopter flights. Meet resident Tasmanian Devils. Sheffield, Burnie, Latrobe and Deloraine are about an hour away - and with another Discovery Park in nearby Devonport, Tassie is touring holiday heaven.
Good location, 500m to the visitor centre to catch the shuttle bus up to Cradle. There's a lot of construction happening at the moment as they are making more sites and building more cabins so it's a bit of a mess but despite that we loved our stay. Bathrooms were clean and the camp kitchen was excellent with BBQ's, hotplates, kettle, toaster and an open fire place. Would stay again.

We had a wonderful 2 nights, staff could not have been more helpful or pleasant over the course of our stay. Room was amazing and the spot is awesome with the shuttle to the mountain at your doorstep and a number of walks from your stay.

In the heart of the Tasmanian World Heritage Reserve. We welcome you to tranquility wrapped in outstanding natural beauty. Located on the shore of Australia's deepest freshwater lake. Our home has a serenity which promotes a connection with this wild and globally significant World Heritage Area. So hold your breath, open your eyes and enter a world away...
We stayed at the Lake St Clair lodge in May and it was a beautiful way to immerse ourselves in the Tasmanian wilderness. The cabins are quiet and cosy, very well heated and with an enormous bathroom. Beware there’s no phone reception in the cabin (there’s wifi in the lodge) but when you’re only a mere few steps away from the most stunning views of the lake you’ll forget all about it. The restaurant meals are homely and hearty, and the walks around the lake are the perfect way to unwind and relax.

On the fringe of alpine wilderness, Cradle Mountain Hotel sits on the edge of Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park. It's the perfect base for alpine walks. Be pampered at the end of the day with hearty mountain fare and a crackling fire in Altitude Restaurant + Lounge Bar. The Hotel is home to The Wilderness Galley, a magnificent collection of nature photography.
Vegans are not included in consideration for the food menu except a vegan brownie for $20 and vegan wine is not available except a $170 bottle of red. In an isolated location without alternative options the lack of inclusion is frustrating and disappointing to say the least.

The cabins are all hand built in a traditional mountain style and feature lovely natural timbers inside and out. All cabin types are full of rustic mountain charm and have log fires except for two (which have gas heating) and three cabin types have spa baths. With wildlife at your doorstep, spectacular alpine scenery all around and a rustic mountain cabin to call home, you will really feel at one with nature when you make Cradle Mountain Highlanders your base for exploring Cradle Mountain National Park. Take a walk through ancient rainforests, scale snow-capped peaks or just curl up by the fire in your snug wooden cabin and let the peace of the forest surround you. Whether you are in the mood for self-indulgent comfort or a budget conscious family, there’s a cabin here to suit you.
Cabin very clean and warm on arrival. Staff genuine and helpful: driving tracks around the cabins were snow ploughed by staff well before check out time - a great confidence and assurance builder for guests tenative driving in snowy and icy conditions. I stayed in Ringtail cabin - so much bigger than a standard hotel room with gas heater and great cooking facility.

In the middle of Tasmania, on the deepest lake in the Southern Hemisphere and surrounded by some of the most dramatic natural landscape on the planet awaits Pumphouse Point, an industrial relic reborn as a wilderness retreat. Explore the myrtle forests, drift across the lake or just sink into your couch and watch the world float by. The scene is set for your new favourite memory.
A stunning location out on the water. Gorgeous views and wood fires create a beautiful ambiance. Breakfast was amazing and warm bread delivered to our door was a highlight. Highly recommend a stay at this unique spot in the wilderness.
