This beach was perfect for a good summer in family, there are so many people in the sand but all of them were relaxing and having a good time, Cartagena was my first beach ever and it couldn't be better, good services around, kind people and the food was excelent. If you are visiting Chile and you want to relax, swim and eat tasty food, Cartagena is one of the best options.

Imposing hills, a natural sorrounding and an unequalled peace invite you to stay in “Villa Jerónimo” and “Villa Miramar”, two cottages in the middle of our vineyard in the top of the hills sorrounded by Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache vines and exceptional views. For breakfast there is nothing better than freshly baked bread, fruits and eggs from Lo Abarca. Our Villas are filled with the best products for them to prepare a real homemade breakfast. Combining the best wines with sophisticated dishes sounds ideal, for a more comfortable stay we offer our guests pairing lunches and dinners in our winebar.
Villa Miramar is a very nice place to spend the night after visiting Casablanca wine valley. Only 40 minutes from Santiago. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath, kitchen, dining and living room bungalow sits on top of the highest hill in the middle of rolling hills of vineyards. We could not believe it even had a view far away of the Pacific Ocean. Rustic access road adds to the quietness, intimate seclusion. We could hear church bells in the evening while stargazing. Later we enjoyed the fireplace inside. Amazingly very good Wi-Fi connection. Plenty of hot water. We did not mind cooking our breakfast, enjoyed it outside on the picnic table. Arrive during daylight, access road is challenging. We requested a picnic basket for our evening meal. If you are a coffee drinker let them know. We only had enough for 4 cups. We wanted more, it was chilly during Nov 2018. Apparently they are more tea drinkers. They provide a very nice French coffee press. We would gladly stay here again. We planned to drive from here to Santa Cruz in Valle the Colchagaua wine region. Going south Ruta #66 roads were good but full of trucks. Very big container port in Cartagena fed all the trucks south. If we did this again, we would drive back to Santiago and take Ruta #5.

We were taking a cruise ship from San Antonio and wanted to stay overnight (prior to sailing) somewhere close but away from St Antonio. We chose Cartagena, literally a 10 minute taxi drive away and the Hotel Reina del Mare! The hotel is in a good position very close to the beach and as our day of arrival was a fine Sunday, there were lots of people enjoying themselves on the beach and in the water. The walk to the beach from the hotel takes about 2 minutes in total. The hotel is obviously dated but the full fontage conservatory and the dining room were very nice indeed, the conservatory had some really comfortable arm chairs and sofas and it is a really nice location to sit and read a book, use the internet, or simply watch the world pass by! Both the conservatory and the dining room had numerous curios of days gone by (an old portable typewriter etc.) The breakfast was very good as was the internet. On arrival we were given the choice of two rooms for our 1 night stay and chose the room at the front. Both rooms were very similar, very dated and had an ensuit shower room with w.c etc. As a 1 night stay it was fine but the bedrooms are in need of a thorough refubishment, we had no hot water from the wash hand basin, but the shower although very dated worked well and we both had a good shower in the morning, with plenty of hot water. However it is the service which sets this hotel apart from others we have stayed in, it was superb, nothing was too much trouble and when we enquired if the hotel had a restaurant for our eveniong meal, we were told it was closed, but the owner/manager immediately produced his mobile phone and checked the surronding restaurants and recommended one two blocks away. When we started walking to the establishment, without us asking, he accompanied us to the small restaurant, spoke to the waitress and ensured we were given a menu in English. This is only one example of their superb service and it continued throughout our stay. We would stay here again in similar circumstances and I would have given the hotel 5 stars were it not for the bedrooms. Our thanks to the manager for all his help and assistance.
