Checked in for luxury Sky apartment. Receptionist pleasant, gave me key and showed me a map to get to our room. A bit like checking into a camping ground type of thing. That was it nothing more. I didn’t really think about it till later but no mention of walks, maps, things to do, dining options, what I would find or need at apartment on arriving, tips or anything , nothing mentioned at all Later discovered no wifi, no mini bar , that’s ok but mention at check in might have been good. Sadly bed quality very average, no spare pillows just 4 small ones on king bed, most places have spares so you can find your preference, interior of apartment very dark, lots of gloomy black tiles, heavy dark woods, felt like a refurbishment would be good Lovely big patio but quite dirty, full of leaves etc and Previous guests dirty serviette still on patio floor so obviously not cleaned Overall quite average stay, definitely not a luxury stay by any means , View lovely though

We read the online reviews about the place and the quality of food and wine served at the restaurant and went with a positive vibe anticipating a fantastic lunch. Hence, each of us ordered a 2 course lunch with the wagyu steak for main... Lo and behold, not sure if that's really wagyu beef the restaurant had served. Minimal marbling and honestly tasted like a piece of normal steak which I usually cook at home. Wagyu beef is not uncommon for us and what was served, if its really wagyu in its true definition, did not make the cut at all.

Very hard to contact the people who run the place as accommodation booked for other family members who could not make it interstate. We had the Old Saint Johns Church which had clean bench tops, bathroom was clean enough but 4 towels for 6 people and 1 roll of toilet paper. One bed a pull out sofa and had to ask for sheets. The building needs so much maintenance the front steps are rotting the gutters just hanging on and there were rodents in the walls. The place is full of candelabra covered in cobwebs and dust. But there were flowers in a vase which was nice. Wood heater added to the atmosphere but quite chilly at night up on the mountain there. We were brought over a packet of pasta to cook and some homemade sauce which although nice was not conveyed to us so we had made other arrangements. Oh and two matches in the box to get fire going. All in all we had a laugh it was an experience. Oh and strange noises in the night. Also charged $50 more than quoted !

Four of us and our fur baby stayed at Old Saint Johns Church. Wilson met us and greeted us with a bottle of red wine and in the fridge there was pasta and a lovely home made pasta sauce that was still warm. He apologised for the deck being out of action as its being replaced and had set up the fireplace for us , returning later with a big bag of firewood. Its such a unique place to stay , so much character and charm and interesting things to look at. Its the oldest Church on the mountain and you can read the history in one of the many books you will find there. Yes , its OLD , so things do go bump and creak in the night , but we were cosy and the beds were comfy. There is lots to look at and reading the many guest books was very interesting ! Lots of positive reviews . We had a great unique stay here and wish it had been longer.. great memories made !
