A holiday in Norfolk is not a glamorous break. While the Norfolk Broads of East Anglia are a beautiful part of the UK, they represent a relaxing rural getaway rather than a high-powered city-break. Although its reputation is mostly rural, with people associating the county mostly with the wetlands of the Norfolk Broads, there are also towns such as Norwich and King's Lynn to visit, both of which provide shopping opportunities, nightlife and entertainment. Norfolk also contains a large stretch of coastline, and seaside destinations such as Cromer and Great Yearmouth mean there are great beaches to be found as well. Many areas of the Norfolk Broads and the coastal region are sites of outstanding natural beauty, and are also protected as bird reserves, so take a pair of binoculars on holiday. There are also popular wildlife attractions such as Banham Zoo, with a great collection of big cats, and Great Yarmouth's Sea Life Centre, one of the biggest of its kind in the country, complete with tropical sharks and conger eels. And of course, if any of your family are interested in boating, you'll need to rent a boat and explore the waterways of the Broads themselves!

We provide horse riding for all levels of experience through a beautiful country estate set in Worstead, North Norfolk. Riding through woodland, parkland, lakeside, fields and tracks. Hacks can be tranquil and relaxing or include cantering through fields for those more experienced riders wishing to feel the wind in their faces. Rides are 1 – 3 hours in length and can include a visit to a local pub
Highly recommend Lakeside riding centre for a fun, relaxed ride in beautiful countryside. My friend and I went for a 2 hour hack, both the horses and the ride were exactly what we looking for. The horses were beautifully schooled, responsive and calm, giving us some lovely canters through the Norfolk countryside. If you are an experienced rider looking to ride somewhere new or you are in Norfolk for a holiday, this is definitely the place to go. Cat is really friendly and rest assured you will have a lovely ride at lakeside.

Marquis Equine is run by Brian Marquis, an ex-professional jockey and trained Military Riding instructor with the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery. With over 20 years experience, Brian has the skills and knowledge to help you and your horse. Marquis Equine provides: - Fun single lessons for all abilities - Riding lessons for children & adults from beginner to competent rider - Personal lessons - on your own horse in our ménage or at your stable All lessons are one to one but siblings/friends can share a lesson.
My kids did a taster horse riding lesson while we were in the area. Brian was really accommodating and responsive around the booking. He made both kids really at ease the whole way through the lesson and had them trotting and using the reins within 15 mins. They both loved the experience and my son was raving about it afterwards. They even came away with memorable life tips! Really recommend Marquis Equine for lessons or a holiday outing.

Previously based in Weybourne. We have now expanded and relocated in the beautiful Worstead Estate. Acres of off road hacking plus a full size ménage
I went to Squirrel Wood Equestrian Centre, last Thursday afternoon (April 1st), because I have got health issues, I was accompanied by a friend, my mum made the booking, over the phone, earlier in the week, for a long time, one of my ambitions has been, to sit on a horse, and be taken for a walk, I achieved that ambition, last Thursday afternoon, me and my friend arrived at Squirrel Wood Equestrian Centre, just after 2.00pm, and were greeted by very friendly staff, who put me (someone who had never been on a horse, before) at ease, straight away, with good advice from the staff, I was able to mount a horse (called Jess), I was then taken for a half hour walk, I was accompanied by a very friendly member of staff (Mel), while sitting on Jess, I wasn't nervous at all, and enjoyed the walk, very nice countryside views, while I was being taken for the half hour walk, my friend (who took me to Squirrel Wood Equestrian Centre), followed behind me, on foot, my friend last rode a horse, twenty years ago, I will definitely return to Squirrel Wood Equestrian Centre, in the future, hopefully to take some lessons, on how to handle a horse, recommended for all animal lovers.
