With stray monkeys, dogs and cows strolling the streets, you'll know you're in Dehli. Beyond these distractions, rich culture, fascinating history and architecture beckon. Temples and old moghul buildings cram crowded streets, best negotiated by motorized tut-tut or hired car and driver. Shopping bargains abound, particularly at Chandni Chowk, and restaurants favor vegetarians. Attractions include the towering Qutab Minar minaret, UNESCO World Heritage Site Lal Qila (Red Fort) and the vast Friday Mosque.

Apparently the museum was an initiative by President Pranab Mukarjee. Open to the public. The museum has a wonderful collection of gifts received by the various Presidents during their foreign visits or when visiting dignitaries visit the President. Excellent presentation, wonderful lighting and amazing collection of artifacts. Entry is free. Guide available. The museum is a hidden treasure as it's not aggressively advetised. While at Delhi, this museum is strongly recommend.

The museum is actually the residence of the Ex prime minister Indira Gandhi and offers a sneak preview not only into the life and times of one of the most powerful PM's of India . Its also a rare opportunity to actually see the residence of the PM . One would tend to think that being the PM Indira Gandhi would have a grand lifestyle . The actual truth may come as a shock to you as to how simply she lived . Its an inspiration to all of us who go overboard trying to show off . The museum also houses Rajiv Gandhi related exhibits . You can see the blood splattered sari of Mrs Gandhi in which she was murdered as well as the splatters dress of Rajiv Gandhi when he was blown up . The entry is free and there is ample free parking . There is also a small souvenir shop and they have a range of very competitively priced memorabilia. There is much more to be seen and if you are in Delhi this is must visit .

Through the maze of turns and alley ways in Chandni Chow lays this very well hidden old havali that is turned into an esoteric haven for admirer's who appreciate the works of Mirza Ghalib.

The museum is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi and his Charkha. Gandhi was a vocal advocate of Charkha and the museum has an interesting display of various types of Charkhas. It is not a very large museum and you can see all the exhibits in under 30 minutes. A small school on the premises also conducts classes on spinning.
