Rangihoua Estate is located on the lower slope of a hill in Waiheke Island and focuses on growing various species of olive trees. It produces excellent olive oil, and the range of flavors is quite pronounced. Your host(ess) will give you a tour that explains the process of harvesting and pressing olives, as well as the various types of olives used in the process of making first class extra virgin olive oil. We were also shown a short video, which was quite informative. The estate also produces honey, including Manuka honey, a New Zealand specialty. While you are tasting olive oil, try the various salsas and other concoctions on offer. They are fabulous! The tasting room also has an eclectic collection of souvenirs, including a large, rustic, hand-carved chess set.

We stopped in at the Wine Centre to try and get some bottles of wine we had sampled at lunch and also to taste some wines from a vineyard where we had run out of time. The range of Waiheke wines was very extensive and the wine tasting machine was innovative and fun. Despite being busy with a number of requests and customers, the store manager was relaxed and friendly. He gave us a quick run down on the machine, offered us water to have between tastings, and even offered to open the deck at the back of the shop so we could look out over Oneroa Beach while tasting. Mission accomplished - we stocked up on our lunchtime wine and also came away with a couple of extras The Wine Centre and its tasting machine is a really good wine tasting back-up for those times vineyards are closed(most often midweek) or if you want to taste wines from different vineyards in one session. I also noticed a very good range of craft beers lurking in the fridge!

The Honey House Cafe has an exceptional home made brunch menu and delicious ice cream sandwiches, teas and coffees. Our tasting room and shop features free sampling of our famous organically farmed Honeys and Olive oils. All this is set in our Olive Grove of 1000 trees and extensive wetlands. The park like setting allows for relaxed and informal time off the beaten track.
We were exploring the island and stumbled upon this absolutely stunning cafe. It is on a private 15 acres that is filled with olive trees and a gorgeous wetlands/river flowing through the middle. Try the ham and cheese croque - it was perfect. The coffees and the homemade ginger ale were 10/10 too. This was by far our favorite spot on the island and highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for top notch food with even better views
