Things to do in Lich
This little cafe is on one of the main roads in the old town of Lich and is nicely decorated with nice view of the town. We stopped here two days in a row for breakfast and had the breakfast buffet both days. It is very good with a variety of rolls and fresh baked bread, as well as the usually meat and cheese selection, cereals, boiled eggs and fresh fruit and vegetables. As well you can have all you want of tea or coffee â¬9.90 in total (â¬6.95 without drinks). The people working there were quite friendly and did well to keep up with the buffet even though it was really crowded on the second day. We took some cake with us on the second day to have when we were home and it was really good too.

The Alt Lich was a pleasant little restaurant about 1 block from the main pedestrian street. With just nine tables in the main dining room, it was tastefully decorated, rather in a traditional style of a small German restaurant. We had called ahead for a reservation and were asked if we could move our reservation either an hour earlier or later because a large group was expected. This turned out to be a wise decision because the server was able to give both our party and the large party full attention. We had also indicated that we were celebrating a wedding aniversary and if we could have a table on the side and have it decorated. They complied and we found the table to be very nicely set up when we arrived. The service was excellent with the server waiting until we had comfortably finished a course before the next was served. Each dish was served at the appropriate temperature. The food was outstanding. The menu was all ala carte but the prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. Two different soups were ordered, one a "baerlauch" (wild garlic/ramsoms) soup and the other beef broth soup with noodles. Both were outstanding. Baerlauch was in season and was new to me. It was essentially a light cream soup with pureed baerlauch, giving it a very subtle and unique taste, and containing two raviolis filled with baerlauch. The beef soup was clearly freshly prepared natural broth and was also outstanding. Three of the party ordered the Argentinian rumpsteak with roasted vegetables. The steak was about 4 cm thick and was perfectly cooked, having ordered it rare or "English" style. The roasted vegetables included a mixture of zucchini, green beans, red pepper with olive oil and baerlauch, perfectly cooked and mildly seasoned. The fourth person had a pork steak with roasted potatoes. The pork was also perfectly cooked and very juicy. A simple dessert of walnut ice cream was ordered as we all were comfortably full with the two courses. Of course, as we were in Lich, we had the local Licher beer which is always good. Overall, we had an extremely pleasant evening. I enthusiatically recommend trying this restaurant. I have eaten in many local restaurants throughout Germany and consider this one of my more memorable meals.

We walked around town on a Friday night looking for a bit of nightlife and after wandering around a bit, we stumbled along this place. Unlike all of the other bars which seemed mostly empty, this place was very crowded, but we were lucky enough to still get a table. They have a large drinks menu with many kinds of beer and spirits and a food menu. We weren't really hungry but the food the others had looked good and the service was good and quick in spite of the crowds here.

I would have considered to give this restaurant a 4.5 if the service matched the style of this more upscale restaurant. What a beautiful location in an old monastery. A must walk around either before or after the meal. The beer garden/courtyard is simple and tastefully done with umbrellas for shade and couches for those who want to relax. Too bad there are not professional photos of this restaurant by its' management. When I looked at the menu, being english and knowing only very basic German, it looked like basic dishes. What a surprise. We had a wakame salad to start and that was totally surprising and delicious! Especially the 'mango caviar' on that dish. My Pims went along very well with that starter and it followed with two main dishes of snitzel (one of the best I've ever had as it was actually juicy and not overcooked) and my partner had a delicious pork dish. The dishes were accompanied by a beautifully done salad, again surprised at the tastes. Great food and at a reasonable price I think given the atmosphere. The service was substandard. I would expect with this more 'posh' atmosphere to be at least one more professional servant and two were clearly not enough for this Thursday evening. I get a little deflated when my drink runs out and the wait staff never seem to notice this; or they don't seem to be bothered having 10 minute conversations with other tables. They were a little abrupt at times as well which I never appreciate nor understand. This will always cause a restaurant's reviews to lean toward negative. However, they coped. There is room for improvement here.Be aware, like a lot of outdoor restaurants, the wasps were very plentiful and very annoying; the burning coffee grinds just don't seem to affect these nasty creatures. When family come overseas, this will be very high on my list to proudly show this restaurant. Will return definitely and perhaps better dressed.
I was Peter Pan Restaurant/ Toronto at Peter St., yesterday with my daughter for lunch. We had an amazing set menu in a very good price for lunch with many choices.I had the beetroot Salad, chicken sandwich and freshely backed mandarins for desert. The service was very good, the seating very cosy the whole atmosphere and experience was great.

The last time I was fortunate enough to eat in this quaint little restaurant was 15 years ago. I am as happy today with my meal and my service as I was then. The staff were welcoming and prompt as was the delivery of the food to my table. The specialty here is without a doubt the stone cooked steaks. They are served on a hot stone and they literally cook in front of you. There is no excuse for not having your steak just the way you like it! Each steak is freshly cut from the attached butcher next door and lightly seasoned with a little salt and pepper. Each is served with a a perfectly seasoned pat of garlic butter that can be placed under the steak as it cooks. An absolute mouth watering treat! Worth the hours drive from the Wiesbaden / Mainz area! I will definitely be back - hopefully sooner than 15 years.

Every year when visiting our aunt in Lich we make a point of having a meal at the Klosterwald. This year we found the food even better than in the previous years. Our aunt had the "Zander filet" which she enjoyed tremendously; it was served on a bed of deliciously prepared pearl barley, which we found very creative. My husband ordered the majesfilet (Vinegared herring) served on a bed of perfectly sauteed broad beans, which was excellent. I ordered a pork dish because I had to have the Spaetzle it was served with, and the Spaetzle was good and the pork did not disappoint. The friendly waitor attending to us was very professional and helpful. We sat in the room with the fireplace which is very bright with big windows, and I think the cheerfulness of this room added to our lunch experience. In the past we often sat in the other sections of the restaurant which are darker and not as inviting. The garden is also wonderful if the weather is sunny. Have for years been wanting to review Klosterwald and am so glad to finally get around to it! Enjoy!

Believe it or not it was my last might in germany and i was dying for the perfect weinersnitzel but was reluctant to get the usual german potato salad so i asked for polenta instead as a side. Antonio brought both for me and encouraged me to try their potato salad which honestly was a revelation! Major â wowâ factor... yes potato salad got a âstop the conversation, stop and taste wow factor dishâ lol. The weinerschnitzel was brilliant as well as everything else. Small but well thought through wine list with a solid amarone followed by this off the radar brilliant red blend San Giu (see photo)... if you enjoy supertuscans try this blend from calabria, italy. Its really nice. Its the type of place you can just walk in and enjoy sho you are with not rushed and just say âantonio just feed and wine usâ and just enjoy your company. The bill wasnt painful either. Great venue wonderful job guys
