Charming 16th Century award winning pub/restaurant, situated on the High Street, in the centre of Ripley.
I managed to get a table at the Anchor at short notice and 4 of us went for a birthday meal on a Saturday evening, the staff were extremely friendly and even though the table was needed for another booking after us we were not rushed and did not feel pressured to finish our meal. The food was lovely, very fresh, nicely presented and tasted amazing, even though we have not been to The Anchor for a couple of years it is still one of our favourite local places to eat.

Our newly refurbished pub is your new friendly local. Great for a quick bite at lunch, a full three course dinner, or even just a swift pint. We are family & animal friendly, have a large garden & ensure we use the best of local produce in both food & bev
I have reviewed a reasonable number of restaurants and this is only the second 1 star score attributed. Reserved a table by phone, arrived a few minutes before the agreed time. I was shown to a table by the barman and then ....nothing. No menu, no offer of a drink. 12 minutes passed, waiting staff drifted through the restaurant, looking after a table of about 10 and another couple. There were no other diners present so it wasnât busy. Then a new diner arrives and is immediately given a menu. This was more than the bridge could bear. Waitress was approached who offered a half hearted apology accompanied by asking me if I had seated myself! On being told that I had not and I was leaving, the defaulting barman was identified, although Iâm not sure it was necessarily his fault. Result- one lost cover which Iâm sure wonât break their bank but is so irritating. On the plus side, a 1km walk took me back into the town and an excellent Thai restaurant (review to follow). And I was offered a menu and a drink on arrival. Dear TriskelionI very rarely respond to reviews but in this case I feel I really ought too as I have to completely disagree with your comments.I think it is fair to outline what happened with a bit more accuracy. You sat in the barn area which was busy and put your head down buried in your phone and no point did you make any attempt to make eye contact or speak to any of the waitresses. Unsurprisingly they thought you must be waiting for someone to join them. Instead of just making some attempt at communication you continued to stare at your phone until after 5 mins (as checked on CCTV) you decided to have an unbelievably rude rant at one of my staff and stormed out threatening to leave a poor review. My staff may have not realised that you were alone and ready but your reaction both at the time and since are quite frankly totally over the top. As soon as they realised they offered you a drink and menu but you clearly had no intention of accepting their apology.

Recently refurbished to a stunning standard, The Queenâs Head pub in Dorking is the new gem of the high street. The vibrant interior blends modern and rustic styles, providing a relaxed, atmospheric setting for lunch, dinner and drinks.
Stumbled on the Queens Head more or less by accident and it was a great surprise. Harming cosy pub with cheerful staff and a fantastic menu. The seafood salad was laden with fresh fish and seafood, deserts were interesting and fresh and even the coffee was good. Heartily recommended.

The Duke of Wellington in East Horsley is an ancient country pub in Surrey with a striking appearance thanks to Lord Lovelaceâs Victorian passion for decorative brickwork. It sits at the top of Ockham Road South by the green â ready to entertain friends a
We last came here about three years ago, then it was lovely. Now itâs on the way downhill. The lovely tiling outside is breaking up. The ladies loos are filthy, with black mould behind the sink, the floors in the ladies are filthy, one cubicle had a coin on the floor covered in dirt which had obviously been there for ages. A member of staff told me they have cleaners in every day.....! Well sack them and get the loos cleaned properly. There were discarded cardboard loo roll inserts over the floor, and an unpleasant smell.......!,A glass of champagne I ordered on arrival was flat, why even serve it when itâs obviously flat.....? Yes it was changed on request, but do you really think customers wonât notice...My chicken Milanese was basically a lump of overcooked deep fried chicken, I sent it back.My husbands burger was ok, but tiny, the fries with it were dreadful...So, thatâs bad drinks, bad food and filthy loos..... a race to the bottom......Hello 463janep, I'm sorry to read your review on your recent experience and your comments about our toilets, which I will add have been addressed and are very clean - Please contact me on [email protected] so we can discuss further.Best Regards,Sian.
Where to eat Pub food in Shere: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Pub food with lots of specials, seasonal fish specials and sharing boards. 4 steak choices.
We were on our way to Crawley/Gatwick and came across this beautiful Inn. Right beside the road with a stream running beside it and a beautiful garden absolutely full of hanging baskets and pots of flowers. We had a nice friendly welcome and enjoyed a good large pot of tea outside in the pleasant surroundings. There was a small childrenâs play area too. The toilets were clean but oh so very dated!

The Grantley arms is a newly refurbished stunning community pub with a great range of beers and fresh food, where drinkers and eaters alike are looked after with the same friendly and professional service. We serve delicious freshly prepared food all day
A pleasant ride over The Surrey Hills from our home on a lovely September afternoon. We really must visit The Grantley more often-friendly,efficient staff and management, excellent food (including one of the "speciasl"-steak and mushroom pie-one of my favourites) and dining al fresco in the garden-what could be better?
