Many say Gulfport is like the old Key West. It definitely has its cast of characters! There are so many good restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, a tequilla bistro, CBD infused tea shop, vegan, and a variety of good ethic choices. Gulfport is also home to local artists who offer their work of a variety of price points. There are frequent fairs that close the street for themed events and a farmers' market on Tuesdays with a nice variety of offerings.

The pier is right on the beach facing the bay, it's dedicated to two Gulfport prominent citizen - the Williams father and son , and the pier has been renovated about sixteen years ago. It's nice to walk along the pier, and I am sure this place is very popular with the local fishermen. Like any other tourist, I took a few photos of the pier and from the pier. It was a lovely warm, sunny morning! ...

The Village Courtyard is a business courtyard (2902 thru 2914 Beach Blvd S) with places to relax, refresh yourself, grab a bite, get a drink, or shop. A bandstand located in the center of the Village Courtyard frequently provides music and other entertainment. Please enjoy the shops, services and restaurants. The Village Courtyard hosts the following businesses: The Perfect Ten Nail Salon; Mildred Maloney Flowers and Gifts; LowTide Kava Bar; Red Hot Tiki Spicy Gourmet Market; Stella's Restaurant; The Gabber Newspaper; The North End Taphouse; Gulfport Realty; Stella's Sundries. See owner pictures for more info. Relax in the Village Courtyard.
This is a lovely little spot in the middle of downtown Gulfport. Several small businesses open onto this area, which includes a stage. It is often used by adjoining North End Taphouse to host open mics and music performances. You can order food or drink and just sit to enjoy.

For the past two years we have visited Clam Bayou Nature Park on the Gulfport side as it’s a short walk from our rental house. (29th Ave S and Miriam St) It’s a small park with several boardwalk paths off the shell paths that take you out into the “bayou” where you can view osprey, herons, an occasional roseate spoonbill, mullet and sting rays. You can also sit along the waterway next to the marina and view the boats entering and leaving and there is a fish-cleaning station there for those who manage to catch something! Parking is available although we rarely see any cars in the parking lot. This year — we finally figured out how to get to the “other side” at 37th Street S and 34th Ave S. There is a kayak launching station there and very limited parking (about 5 cars if everyone is cognizant of sharing the space plus 2 handicapped parking spots.) There are also restrooms at this location. There is also some parking at 27th Ave South which is technically outside the Clam Bayou park but the pathways connect you to the park. At the 27th Ave location, you are only a short walk across a bridge to a “manatee viewing area” (although we didn’t see any — there is a big sign!) There is a short path from the 37th St parking lot (on the left) that has a boardwalk and an elevated (tree-top) viewing area (zig zag ramp (of about 1 story) instead of stairs so wheelchair accessible). If you head off on the path to the right from the parking lot — it extends all the way up to 22nd Avenue through the mangroves with at least one offshoot out to the left to the water where we saw a sailboat moored within the canal there. It’s a very wide path as it’s part of the bike way but plenty of visibility so you can get out of the way. As you pass the large water area on your right — you will see the cut-off path to the right with the “Manatee Viewing” sign. Enjoyable walk with views of lots of mullet, herons and osprey.

We enjoyed the greetings from all the turtles, ducks and fish! The turtles would duck under water when they would see our dog. They were so cute!
