The Cafetal Coffee Tour is a family project that began in 2008. One of our main characteristics is to be a rural tour where you, as a visitor can interact with the family and be part of the process from the planting to the tasting of a cup of coffee. The tour takes place in the Ramírez family farm, where you will know about the plantation, varieties, crunching, drying, roasting, coffee catacion and you will also visit the old house where you will learn the way our grandparents used to process coffee . You can also enjoy gardens of medicinal plants, orchids, fruit trees and be able to live the experience of interact in a farm that works in sustainability with nature.

We produce our own "bean to bar" chocolate in our Umpa-Lumpa-sized Monteverde chocolate factory. We are now offering a chocolate tour that demonstrates the entire process- how we select beans, and then roast and grind them to produce our "artesanal" chocolate that rivals the finest anywhere. At the end of the tour we demonstrate how our chocolate is tempered to produce the deep rich shiny brown treat that we covet so much.

Don Juan Tours Monteverde is a family business that, through its tours, teaches visitors the entire process behind three very important products worldwide, Coffee, Chocolate and Sugar Cane. On this Coffee, Chocolate and Sugar Cane Tour, you will know the whole process of Coffee, from the seed to the delicious cup of coffee. Once the coffee tour is finished, we will start with the sweetest part of the tour, the delicious Chocolate. Like coffee, we will talk from the seed to the delicious Chocolate bar and we will end up selecting some members of the group to grind the Cacao and make some chocolate. Once finished you will have the opportunity to taste several types of chocolate such as Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate and White Chocolate. At the end of the Chocolate tour, we will go to the “Trapiche” where we will extract the Sugar Cane juice to taste.
