Although the once glittering Last Chance Creek has long dried up, Helena's Gold Rush history is reflected in its preserved architecture, from the spires of St. Helena Cathedral and the Queen Anne style Original Governor's Mansion to the restored miner's village of Reeder's Alley and the oldest house in the city, Pioneer Cabin. For those seeking adventure, the paths of Mount Helena Park provide ample activity. Helena also offers much in the way of arts and culture with theaters and galleries.

The quality and variety and level of interest of the wines available in this little store would make it a regular stop in a major city. So finding this selection available in Montana is nothing short of miraculous. When we stopped in to pick up some wine to take with us for a week in our next remote location, Martin recommended about half a dozen obscure ones—so enthusiastically that we could not resist. Every one of his choices was a winner! If we were within reach of Helena we would be there all the time.

Get one free 12oz. beer while your growlers are filled. Stop by the taproom and enjoy good friends a great atmosphere and really good beer! Growler Wednesdays & Sundays- Growler fills are $1.50 off, with one free 12oz. beer while you wait!
A nice variety of brews, I'm always happy when Steamboat lager is on tap. Interesting cask conditioned beer is always offered. I am greeted by name when recognized. Blackfoot sets the standard for what a local brewery should be!

Visit our Brewery & Tap Room open Sun-Wed from noon-10pm and Thurs-Sat from noon-11pm. We feature Live Music Thursday & Saturday nights and we now have a snack bar that serves artisan pizzas (made with the spent grain from our daily brews in the crust) along with beer brats made with our Scottish ale. We offer free samples of our hand-crafted beers (normally 10-12 on tap) and tours by appointment. If you are a wine lover we have 4 wines on tap and a selection of wines by the bottle as well. We also have a gift shop featuring many beer gifts such as T-shirts, Hats, Patches, Belt buckles, beer signs and much more. Also visit our art gallery featuring art for sale from local artists.
Nice brewery with outdoor seating. We tried a flight. My two favorite was the Prickly Pear ale and the Huckleberry ale. The Scottish ale was good for a darker beer. The Oktoberfest beer was really good. I’m not much for sauerkraut but it was really good on the pizza. I love the outdoor flower planters as they used white petunias to look like foam on top the beer. Very ingenious. ????

Good, friendly service. Nice atmosephere. A place, solo or with friends, that would be nice to linger. A wide variety of I.P.A was offered, I espescially enjoyed the Wood Knocker.

Snow Hop is the fourth of Helena's five breweries. It's a small brewery with a very nice tasting room located at the northern edge of Helena in the Cottonwood Corners commercial area. We visited on a Sunday afternoon. There were some families with children and some adult couples and singles. The atmosphere is quiet but not dead. Children can be a bit boisterous, but we saw and heard no rowdy adults. Conversation is the activity of choice, and board games are also popular; watching sports on TV is not. The clientele at the time we visited consisted mostly of adults in their thirties and forties, some with and some without children. Soft drinks are available. The beers are very good. Their IPA is excellent, but their signature beer is a Polish-style grodziskie -- a beer made from oak-smoked wheat malt. Some people go out of their way to find it; I found it a bit too smoky and preferred the IPA. The brewery also offers several other brews, including a Koelsch, an amber, and others. Note: On Mondays, growler fills are $1 off. This is not a romantic rendezvous, but it can be a good refreshment stop for couples.
