I have been back to Mac's Kitchen a number of times and never been disappointed. The have a wide range of local cuisine at very reasonable prices. The pensioners in the area even have standing orders for plated food. You can get a proper meal there with meat and vegetables at way better value than an expensive reataurant. Just like home-cooked food.

The first Spur i visited was in Newlands in Cape Town. It was the Golden Spur and the owner was Alan. He started the franchise, and offered me a franchise, way back in the late 1960's. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk my late wife into taking a chance with a franchise. But since then, i have been a devotee. Just yesterday, i had an opportunity to have breakfast at Key West. Oh! Wow! The steak was succulent, the eggs done to perfection, the bacon was melt in your mouth.It is more expensive now than it was in Newlands. Then, a burger, chips and a salad was 75 cents. But, Spur franchises still maintain the same high standards of food presentation and quality. And a visit to Spur is still guaranteed to let me leave with a smile on my face. I've visited Spurs from the North to the South of South Africa, and even helped to hang light fitting in Bellville back in the 60's. And i go back!Thanks Alan. You introduced me to a lifetime love. We arranged a Sunday buffet at this venue for about 30 people. The Lodge is situated in a garden like environment with bird cages that entertain kids. The function venue was a good size and seating was well arranged. The food was reasonable, what one would normally expect of a Sunday buffet, at a good price. People attending the function was very happy with the service as well as catering. Definately a place to consider for a Sunday buffet. Just be forwarned that the big room for functions can become noisy due to live music right next to the function room.

I had ribbs in this restaurant and I realized, but too late, that they were completely different from the ribbs in the menù. They were brown and disgusting, I could taste only the barbecue sauce! After few minutes I got out of the restarant, I felt really bad!!! Never back again!!! Disgusting food and waiters always absent! We asked many times for a sealed bottle of water and they brought to our our table, for two times, a bottle already opened! Under the table there is a very dirty moquettes, how it's possible to put moquettes under the table of a restaurant???? I took my daughter and grand daughter there for a meal. What a wonderful place for a youngster to play. She had an absolute ball.I had steak and chips as usual. The onion rings were excellent too.My daughter had ribs and wings to share with the 2-year old. A minor problem with the ribs was professionally rectified.
