We've been coming to this 'locals' favourite for 6 years now, dining both at lunch and dinner. More recently twice in the past month and there's a common theme - consistency. The food quality and price are hard to beat, service is prompt and courteous and Sylvan's dessert trolly is fast becoming legendary, with more choices than you can imagine so be sure to leave room for dessert. Menus start at 15.90 for four courses and go up from there, portions are generous so come hungry. The wine list is modest especially the white wines but there's something for most tastes and all budgets. Little wonder people keep coming back.

Restaurant traditionnel cuisine de produits frais spécialités régionales Bruschettas crêpes servi dans un cadre chaleureux
La Cheminee is unique in my experience as it serves both "conventional" French food but also a range of pizza-size bruschetta. The restaurant is warm and welcoming and we ate there on three separate occasions - although, to be fair, we had little choice, as everywhere else seemed to be closed! We arrived early the first evening before the restaurant opened at 1930 but the patron very kindly opened up and invited us in. I tried the â¬22 set menu that evening which I thought initially was a bit on the expensive side, but it's cheaper than the other restaurants in Nérac (when/if they're open) and turned out to be good value - I asked for a medium steak and it was perfectly cooked and the pear in red wine dessert was beautiful. On the second night I simply had grilled chicken and on the third I tried the bruschetta. By this time we were being greeted like old friends (by the patron and a really lovely waitress) and even had our "own" table, which was great. We'll be back in Nérac in a couple of months and are already looking forward to eating here again. Oh, and I almost forgot to say that the house red was gorgeous and excellent value.

Stopped in with two friends for dinner on a Saturday night. Without reservations, the staff was able to accommodate us. Our waitress was very helpful in recommending two local wines. Orders were placed and we enjoyed the simple green salad tossed with vinaigrette and our bottle of wine. Our entrees were a Diavolo pizza and a calzone. full flavor, nice crust and stuffed with toppings. I would recommend reservations on weekend nights.

A lovely restaurant whose outside seating area includes a long fishtank full of ornamental carp. The very helpful maitre dâ upon observing the childrensâ interest provided them with a saucer of fish food! Feeding frenzy not exactly mirrored by our more leisurely enjoyment of delicious steak, duck, skate wings and cuttlefish. Preceded by âamuse-boucheâ gratuit. We were taken through the menu so we understood what everything was. Desserts up to the usual standard, and the usual excellent inexpensive local wine. A good time was had by all.

Really lovely meal. We were in Nerac for a family wedding and this was recommended by the owner of the B&B - not a huge menu but enough choice for the 7 of us to find something we wanted to eat. The food was all absolutely lovely and the wait staff friendly - despite our very poor French!

We were recommended by hotel Henry VI and so pleased they did. The menu is short, but all local. The food is amazing, beautifully cooked and seasoned to perfection. Our experience was made even better by the lovely waitress who was helpful and friendly. Would love to dine here again.
