The food was delicious and at a reasonable price. They seem to put their own spine on dishes, which I like. For example the calamari salad I had came with sauteed baby squid rather than the deep fried version I was expecting.

It is often quoted that a small menu is witness to a good restaurant. Well nothing could be truer for the Orther Stub'n. Seasonal Austrian excellence is the best way to describe our experience. Finest Girolles and Dumplings, or local Saibling Fillets. Finished off with Apricot Dumplings, or Blackberry Sorbet. All this in the best Lakeside setting imaginable.

Now Vorchdorf is not on everyones list of must visits. A tiny village on the way to Gmunden, I doubt that many people would think of stopping. But STOP here you should. This is truly a great find and one of the nicest restaurants in Upper Austria.Tucked away in what was an old apartment building, the restaurant has true charm - with its ram-shackeled, rustic look and dining rooms on different levels. It provides a warm and welcoming feeling. The staff are attentive, but not overwhelming. The service is good and professional and although I have enough German to get by in a restaurant - they were able to converse all that was needed in English. We chose to each have the degustation menu, there were two options - so we chose 1 each. Something that is not always possible with degs menus. All I have to say is WOW! The presentation and different tastes and combinations is simply outstanding. The courses are served at a good pace, 7 courses is a lot to get through, so it is nice to have time in between to sit and savor what you have just eaten. We never once felt rushed. They have a wonderful wine list and the staff were able to recommend a great wine to go with our meal. This is absolutely worth the drive and the planning to get there. This one goes to the top of our list, we will be back. Except this time, we will make sure to book on of the guest rooms upstairs, so driving home is not required! We felt that the price was very good for what we had, 2 x degs menus, bottle of wine and bottled water for â¬300. For the quality and taste of the food, the service and setting it is really a great price. In Vienna or Salzburg you could almost double this and I doubt that it would be as good.

The restaurant "Kulturcafe", at the very end of the promenade "Esplanade" in Gmunden, offers a variety of high quality products and an ambience with an exceptional atmosphere. Our team is delighted to serve you warm kitchen from 6pm to 10 pm. The menu pro
The Kulturcafe is a place popular amongst locals in the Gmunden city. It is located at the end of the Esplanade, the famous walking strip of the lake Traunsee, opposite of the Yacht club. A very nice place to sit together and enjoy a cocktail, a glass of wine, or simply a beer. Small food is also served (but it is not a restaurant).

We came here with my family of six people after a very nice day on the lake to have some coffee and ice cream, as this establishment has wonderful views of the lake from their patio. Most of our party ordered various desserts and drinks which turned out to be fine if not pretty mediocre. My wife and I ordered two chocolate milks with vanilla ice cream scoops. The drinks came and I had a first big drink- the milk was TOTALLY ROTTEN AND SPOILED. My wife's tasted only slightly off and sour, mine however was utterly rancid and even smelled powerfully. This would normally be no problem, sometimes even at the best places milk can go off quite quickly. You just order another one with fresh milk. But this isn't what happened. The chef, or whoever the person is who slings drinks here, came out and shouted at me and my wife that we were wrong and the milk was totally fresh, as if we were stupid children that were lying or could not tell the difference. He dressed us down thoroughly and made a complete red faced fool of himself. He screamed that it was "ABSOLUTELY FRESH AND I TASTED IT!" never taking a moment or a breath to hear what we had to say. This is an honest account, and I'm very sad to report it. I would have been fine with fresh milk, but shouting at customers instead of offering an apology is absolutely bizarre and mean spirited. It's just bad business. We just wanted a nice day at the lake, but instead we were shouted at for politely sending back spoiled milk. We will never come here again.

Food was pretty much alright, but the service was really slow. I wouldn't suggest this place if you are hungry - you will have to starve quite long until you get your food. As we entered the restaurant we asked three service personnel for a table. Their answer was always: "you have to ask the lady in red dress". We did, then the red dress lady pointed at another lady wearing the same red dress. Obviously only that lady can assign tables and take orders (we were also not able to place order to other personnel). Looks like there is a very strict division of rolls, but it is extremely inefficient for service. We had a simple meal, a main dish and glass of wine, but it still took us like forever until we could finally pay and get out of there - simply because of the slow service.

Had lunch from the reduced set menu as this was the only choice between Christmas and New Year. Not that we would have missed anything or that our special dietary requirements would not have been catered for. Fabulous food, extremely flexible, friendly and authentic service, and definitely a restaurant to go back to on my next visit. Superb.

The gourmet meeting place in the Seehotel Restaurant "Bootshaus". A gourmet restaurant directly built on a boathouse: modern interpretation with proper style materials and elements - to contemporary art on the walls. Our chef Lukas Nagl sets the tone here
We came for dinner, and were very pleased. The menu is diverse, and the fresh lake fish was excellent, as was my curry rizotto and our fresh vegetable salads. The service was friendly, polite and efficient, ans spoke English. They are open year-round, and accept credit cards-- highly recommended.Dear guest!Thank you very much for your positive remark and we are happy you enjoyed your stay with us that much!We are looking forward to welcoming you soon again!Best regards from Lake Traunsee, Family Gröller & Team
